Izuku had never wanted to protect anything as much as he wanted to protect the blossoming relationship between them, even as it caught fire and threatened to consume him whole. He'd gladly go up in flames if it meant getting to see Kacchan like this. He'd suffer through any number of trials, take any number of blows, would walk through fucking Hell just to feel Katsuki's strong arms around him even once more. Arms that had once pushed him away, terrorized and hurt him, Arms that now became the symbol of Izuku's heart, a protective wall against a harsh world that sought to destroy him at every turn.
