About that MLK quote, it's okay to hate your oppressors, however it's not okay to hate on people that have similar traits as your oppressors. MLK didn't want African Americans to love EVERY white person, however don't hate on all white people because of a few white people. That is the point he was making. The OP of the MLK post is under the impression that white people are STEALING, in essence, a Historical Figure, even though this is a fucking impossibility.

No, you're missing the point. The point is that MLK was a very important figure in the fight for black civil rights. The point is that he wanted to push for equality. The complacency and "loving the white man" bullshit was to make sure that the protests and rallies and everything remained nonviolent, because he was a very smart man and knew that actual physical violence would be crushed and looked down upon immediately.

The point is that white people will too often appropriate his speech and his quotes to attempt to squash any anger that comes from experiencing racism or microaggressions or systematic oppression. The point is that white people will often use Martin Luther King Jr's words for the opposite of their intended purpose: to try and make black people be complacent with the way things are.

There really isn't anything wrong (that I know of, if I'm wrong or overstepping my bounds here, someone please let me know) with using parts of the "I Have A Dream" speech in a non-racial context. There is nothing wrong with using pieces of the speech to fight racism and inequality.

However, there is a whole fucking lot wrong with using bits of his speech about fighting for your rights as a human being to basically tell black people to sit down and shut up.

Of what I've read, it's completely safe! More safe, actually. BUT, because it's not very strong, it's suggested that you at least use a sulfate free shampoo the first time you wash your hair after dying/bleaching it, as the baking soda isn't strong enough to get out the harsh chemicals from color treatment the first time around.

But that's not all he is insinuating. Yeah, sure, I'll agree that removing commenting can be discrediting, but you have to consider that this choice was not made in a vacuum: Feminist Frequency and its creator have received not only criticisms, but death threats and quite a lot of misogynistic insults because of the content of the videos. So I can understand her choice to remove commenting. There are other places to critique/discuss her videos. He also states that "each gender is objectified", which is clearly an attempt to discredit the video. Yes, I'm sure there are many instances where men are objectified, even in video games, but video games by and large objectify women, as their target audience is primarily men. This insinuation suggests that he doesn't believe that women are objectified to such a startling degree that it warrants a video series on it, which is the main reason he will probably receive a LOT of criticism. Regardless of how you or I perceive his actions, this comment, alongside others he has made in the past, are going to make him fall heavily out of favor with a lot of people, particularly in the Tumblr community.
