murderbot fanfiction is so fucking stressful.. isat fanfic is like “oh no! siffrin got crushed to death again!” and murderbot fanfic is like “there’s a person on your ship capable of sabotaging the life support and killing everyone on board in an instant, and it wants to, bc it’s been enslaved and bioengineered to only feel joy when it kills people. you have 3 seconds to decide whether to take the moral high ground and do nothing and let it kill you and everyone you love, preemptively murder it yourself for the crime of being built to be dangerous, or control it by installing on it the same electric shock torture device that was used to control you for most of your life. GO” like god damn at least give three a minute to think about it……

every time i discuss murderbot, afterwards i’m like “oh fuck i don’t remember saying ‘it’ did i accidentally say ‘they’”. but half the time it’s bc the sentence didn’t require a pronoun at all and the other half the time it’s bc i did say ‘it’ and that’s just not a memorable thing to do on account of that’s its pronouns 🤨

murderbot would hate the idea of a construct ethically creating a family of new constructs tho, it prefers not to confront its internalized anti-construct prejudice or otherwise messy feelings about its existence AND it’s the friend who hears you’re having a baby and goes “ew, why”. so there’s really no part of this that it’s happy about

read a fic where mb got magic healing powers that meant its organic components rejected its inorganic components and healed into a full organic body which is genuinely the most fucked up evil thing you could ever possibly do to it… having a human body sucks so bad i wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy and least of all on my good friend murderbot

murderbot’s buddies’ polities don’t allow the creation of constructs bc it’s unethical, but it’s just the way the CR does it that’s unethical… if you’re normal about it, making a construct would be about the same thing as PSUMNT making their MIs. the cloned human tissue part just makes it also equivalent to a human having a normal human baby, i.e., the provider of the tissue that is being cloned ought to consent, and there ought to be at least one person committed to assisting and providing for and teaching and loving this new being (which is also the same as the uni MIs).

so like i’m just saying it would be really normal and awesome for one of the constructs mb and co have freed to someday decide it wants to start a family, and work with PSUMNT to make a construct ethically!!!
