you may have been a reality tv child or a well-kept secret until recently, but either way - you're ready to earn your place! well, after mommy or daddy helps you secure it. half the job is getting there, right? who cares what the tabloids say! you've earned your spot on this set. when long-time family friend the director is murdered, you have to wonder if all those business deals he shared with your family had something to do with it...
connections.
the gay icon. when you two first started hanging out so long ago, your parents made it very clear that the gay icon was not welcome. that's why you never actually told them that they were the first person you ever dated, albeit briefly. they were your first "love", or whatever that means to teens, and it felt like a devastating loss. now that their relationships are under public scrutiny again, can you handle this part of your life resurfacing?
the franchise fan. it is painfully obvious that the franchise fan has some sort of issue with you. no, you have no clue who this person is, and no, you're not interested in getting to know them! you know better than to let some random person's opinion get in the way of your success, but this person is your coworker and making it more difficult for you to really get into the swing of this.
the (barely) living legend. you know your parents are into some shady stuff, so it would make sense that their long-time friend the (barely) living legend would know about it! they insist that they have never been involved nor do they even know what the business is exactly, and they seem a bit eager to discover what your parents are really capable of. now, you're not one to meddle, but this could be a mutually beneficial arrangement!

Mayor Jones (40s-50s)

this character must be Black.
at the peak of your career, you were covering magazines and winning teen choice awards. you watched as your peers continued to grow, both in front of and behind the camera, while you stepped away from the spotlight. your absence prompted speculations on whether you were still alive through a twitter hashtag ten years ago. your old pal the director personally invited you to this project (your first in over two decades) but when he's murdered you begin to wonder if you've been set up.

the comedian. when the comedian first came to you for your help with stepping away from the limelight, you were happy to oblige. you really believe the comedian means no harm and is only trying to get on with their life - that's why you were willing to stay publicly associated with them. however, now that eyes are back on you, you have to decide if you're going to recover from another controversy with them.
the child star. you can't help but see yourself in the child star; their star is burning bright and you know that there's only a matter of time before they burn out. you're reaching out to provide mentorship, but they're certain they don't need you. with a whole team of people supporting them, what do they need an industry has-been for? however, the devastation of the director's murder is bringing the two of you closer than you could have ever predicted.
the franchise fan. your last project, 20 years ago, was a blur. you've lived so much life since then - but it seems like that's the only thing the franchise fan ever wants to talk about. your whole thing is moving forward and evolving, but the combination of this frequent reminder and the new scrutiny on the cast is dragging through your past.

Head Writer
the head writer. this job will function as both the dedicated story editor for the director and person who is in charge of the writers' room; at the end of the day, the decisions are split between the head writer and the director.

gender. cis woman.
age. thirty-five.

you were hired to challenge the director - and that you have been doing. his vision for this production is short-sighted and has no artistry in it, and you have a much better overall trajectory for the show than him. you know you were hired to rein him in and ensure everyone else is part of the storytelling, but you keep butting heads on some key elements - including a huge plot twist in the pilot. you relented, but not without a fight. that fight is now top of everyone's mind now that the director is dead, and once the public hears about this highly contested pilot script? well. that's not going to fare well.

the influencer. you know why they're here. the director's agent is trying to push a shiny new celebrity, but nothing seems to stick. you're over the whole "new to the industry" crowd, and you swore you'd stop ingratiating people only for them to drop you at the next slight inconvenience. the influencer keeps trying to suck up to you and you're resisting - the desperation is disgusting - but now they seem to be the loudest one supporting you in a time of public backlash. lovely.
the franchise fan. you and the franchise fan are familiar with each other, and you're well aware of their affinity for the doo-niverse even though your past is just a series of projects that you happened to both be working on. you've interacted at parties, you're frequently in the same circles - and now you're trying to use them for some more story ideas to stay ahead of the director. no credit necessary, it's all just watercooler talk!
the burnout. you were thrilled when you found out the burnout was going to be playing shaggy. you followed the public's campaign for them to be cast, and you love a good self-referential role to curry favor from the public. you're a fan, sure, but most importantly you support them. and you want to do that however you can.

Stunt Coordinator
the stunt coordinator. designs & choreographs stunts, ensures the safety of the cast, and directs the stunt cast. will be used every episode - must be available full time.

even though your trade is actually performing the stunts, a recent health issue has put your full-time work on the side burner. to everyone at large, you're taking it easy after a health scare. to those closer to you, you're worried this may be your last time doing any stunt work. the director somehow learned about this, and roped you into your first stunt coordinator job. you're grateful for the opportunity, but the director's death has everyone's eyes on the production. rumors have swirled up about your reasoning behind taking this behind-the-scenes role, but what can you do?

the nepo baby. this isn't a scenario of really knowing the nepo baby. they're the kid of a friend of yours, and it's a coincidence that you two are working together. (really!) what isn't a coincidence is how the nepo baby has come to you asking for information that you simply do not have! despite knowing their family is involved in shady stuff, you're not that kind of friend to them. you are, however, a little curious if the family could help out with your medical issue...
the voice. you and the voice had some sort of connection the night of the cast party, but the death of the director is making things very complicated. you're trying to distance yourself from them, but you do have to rely on one another. on one hand, it's best they know why you were missing for a certain period of time in the night. on the other, they're not asking - and you really don't want to tell.
the comedian. the comedian, in the past, has hurt someone close to you either directly or indirectly. you want to be normal about it, but you're very protective over this person and you thought you'd be able to handle it; that is, of course, until the director is found dead. you don't like the comedian, but do you think they could have gone too far this time?

Thorn (20s-30s)
lead singer of the hex girls. goth and vegetarian, they are an eco-activist using their platform and the power of music to change the world. must be able to sing, instrument knowledge a plus.

name. winona lark young.
gender. cis woman.
age. thirty.

this character must be a person of color.
you'd always been curious about acting. at most you've done a singular commercial where you played yourself - but now you've got the chance to really flex those skills. you're excited to try your first acting role, even if you are dealing with your ex, the director. now that he's been killed, your relationship with him will be coming out, and no one will look at you the same way again. they say it's always the ex.
the comedian. when you heard the comedian would be on this project, you were disgusted. when you found out it was the director who insisted they join, the feeling compounded. with both moral reprehension and a disgust for the company they keep, it's unlikely you two will get along - even if the comedian is trying to use their knowledge of your past with the director as leverage.
the up-and-comer. they're a fresh face in the industry, and you can't help but feel protective knowing how much they look up to the director. you want to provide a guiding light without being outwardly derisive toward their new idol, but it's getting more difficult as you get to know them better and begin worrying about their similarities.
the (barely) living legend. sure, you'd heard of them before - they probably were a stunt double to one of your a-list actor friends! but something pulled you toward the (barely) living legend at the cast party, but now you're worried they're your only alibi. they've been real strange since the director has died - maybe you're supposed to be their alibi? a one-time hangout at a party seems to have turned into a commitment.

you don't know a life before fame. your first role was when you were a toddler, blossoming with a silly catchphrase that you can't escape. you may have continued in movie roles or sought steady work in television, but this was clearly the way to prove you weren't the same kid you were then. the director was in the first production you ever worked on, and coming across this script was like a calling to return to the fertile crescent of your career. now that he's been murdered, you're starting to question if you ever really knew this collaborator at all.

the former heartthrob. the former heartthrob is like every other "seasoned" adult in hollywood - someone who feels the need to bestow wisdom despite you having much more recent experience (and, arguably, you've been working longer). they keep telling you to slow down, take a break, and you're tired of it - that is until the director is killed, and you're finding it harder to trust the people closest to you. maybe you could use some advice.
the burnout. you have regrets in life, and losing contact with the burnout is one of them. though the friendship had to come to an end, you always found yourself wishing you'd been braver. now they're back on their way to a clean reputation, and the door seems to be opening for you to make things right.
the up-and-comer. everything seems to be so easy for the up-and-comer. the talent, the charisma, becoming the apple of the director's eye... no, you're not jealous of the attention the up and comer is getting! especially not when you used to be the set darling when you worked with the director! there's something about them you can't shake, and you've made it well known you're not a fan.
