"That one time when I forget my umbrella, of course .. " he cursed under his breath, ruffling his soaked hair once he managed to seek cover from the rain storm that struck within few seconds and took him by surprise. He shuddered as he started to feel cold due to the wet clothes. The bus stop wasn’t the most ideal escape considering his situation but it was better than nothing. He could only hope that the storm would pass by quickly. He reached into his pocket for his phone and started to type a message to the group chat to inform his friends that he would be late from their karaoke night.
At first he didn’t pay attention to the other figure who’d escaped the heavy rain pour under the same shelter, until he put his phone away and the man caught his attention. He was obviously a foreigner, there was no doubt about it. Sho found himself staring and felt embarrassed when he realized it, he didn’t want to seem rude. He wondered if this guy could speak Japanese or whether he should try his somewhat limited English skills instead. He pursed his lips and turned his attention to the asphalt where various puddles had started to form.
“This .. is a crazy storm,” he gathered his courage to start the chitchat with the stranger, in clumsy English, tucking his hands into his jacket’s pockets while he stared at the downpour.
