GoT season eight hopes / predictions / speculations
1. Starting simple, there simply HAS to be an Arya x Gendry reunion.
2. In a similar vein, a Hound reunion with BOTH Sansa and Arya. He is honestly probably the closest person they have to a father now.
3. I know lots of the fandom ship Arya and Gendry and want a marriage there but I’m not convinced that Arya is developed enough as a character to make this decision. I think her and Gendry love each other but if they were to marry in s08 it would feel a little rushed and early tbh. Maybe something for the book series instead?
4. Jon seems to think that Daenerys can win over the North but I doubt it. The North see her brother as having raped Lyanna Stark and her father indisputably burned Rickard and Brandon Stark alive. If she keeps her sights set on the Iron Throne she will have to either leave the North as an independent kingdom or marry Jon for the alliance.
5. Sansa MIGHT end up as Queen in the North. I think in some ways the North trust her and are growing to trust her more than Jon.
6. I know Season 7 ends with seeds of romance between Dany and Jon but I actually think its equally likely that he will end up with Sansa! Especially when it is confirmed that they are cousins not half siblings. (And on the other side of the coin, not sure whether the aunt/nephew relationship between Jon and Dany would fly once it is revealed but cousins is probably okay in GoT standards lol).
7. Although I would prefer Dany on the throne to Jon (because I don’t think he would enjoy it) I do think it would be a too obvious ending seeing as everyone has expected her to get the iron throne since her dragons were born. If it’s not Dany, it’ll be Jon OR Jon and Sansa together.
8. I’ve seen people say that Gendry will end up on the Iron Throne. I’m not entirely throwing away that theory but I don’t think it would please many fans (he isn’t a central enough character).
9. Cersei will definitely die, and I kind of hope it is in childbirth and not killed by Jaime as predicted (or Tyrion, less popularly). Jaime loves her too much to kill her anyway, even though he will likely leave her. But I honestly want Cersei to get some peace and I think if she dies in childbirth but her baby survives (to be cared for by Jaime or even by Tyrion!) she will be happy.
10. I think Dany has a high death risk, tragically. If she does die, though, it’ll be a hero’s death for sure. (Self-sacrifice, by her dragons or by the Night King).
11. There might not even be an Iron Throne by the end. The seven kingdoms might all become autonomous (e.g. Dany/Gendry in Kings Landing, Jon/Sansa in the North, Asha/Theon on the Iron Islands and Tyrion /Jaime at Casterly Rock).
12. Jaime will finally pick a side and it will be the fight against the white walkers (so Jon / Dany’s side, not Cersei’s).
13. Literally no comment on Bran lol
14. Melisandre will be back, maybe to be killed by Davos. Maybe dies in the fight against the Night King. Not sure, but pretty sure she will die.
15. Davos or Tyrion will be Hand of the King.
16. Possible King/Queensguard contenders will be Jorah, Arya, Brienne and Jaime.
17. Really don’t have any confident opinions on Tyrion other than him as Hand of the King. If he dies, like Dany, he’ll be given a great death. I think he is far more likely to survive than Dany though.
18. I hope there is another Jorah / Dany moment. He really has gone above and beyond for her and I think he cares about her more than anyone else in the show. He’ll be devastated if she dies.
19. Not a fan of the Dornish storyline tbh, seems like an unnecessary distraction / complication, hope it goes quickly.
20. No confident opinions either on Varys, Asha, Theon or Bronn. I feel like Bronn will probably scrape through and I hope Asha survives!
