Okay so Mary & John were pushed by Heaven to be together so Sam and Dean could be born. Their bloodlines made them the perfect vessels for Lucifer and Michael. We know John & Adam can house Michael. Therefore Mary should be capable of housing Lucifer. Season 12 dealt with plots centering around Mary being revived & Lucifer desperately looking for a new vessel.

WHY didn't the two intersect?!?!?!?! It was RIGHT THERE in your lap writer's room.

Meta episodes usually mean the characters are aware that they are being observed. They are aware they are in work such as a tv show or book. Very much like The French Mistake, or Carver Edlund's books, once with with Chuck, once with the fan convention and once with the musical. I'm wondering how the finale will play out given how SPN has done these kind of episodes before.

That’s the big question, right? (here’s the post). How does a finale play out as a meta episode? More importantly, THIS season’s finale because there are already so many crazy story lines between the BMoL, Mary, Lucifer and the nephilim, so where would you take that idea that hasn’t been done already? 

Then add onto that, someone mentioned that the finale will have something purgatory-esque (not sure if this meant Jared said it) and Misha said something about wings at the last con (I can’t find the reference for that)

I’m stumped, which means I’ll definitely tune in to see what’s going to happen. What are your theories?

What is your opinion of ketch and season 12 so far?

Hey there, anon! Welcome to tumblr wine party opinions.

I find Ketch fascinating. Such a charming psychopath and you have to admit that for a stone-cold killer, the guy has style between the motorbike and the suits and the jazz music. So different from any character we’ve seen in the show. He reminds me of a snake watching its prey with those eyes. The way he reacts to Mary is interesting too - “I thought I’d have to kill you” - is he surprised at the attraction to her or just unable to make normal small talk? because again, a psychopath.

Season 12 has been a bit of a mess imo. I will always love the show and even in bad eps, there are great moments. It’s just there were so many moments with potential that didn’t work as well as I’d like to see *side eye Mamma Mia* I like some of the new writers like Meredith Glynn or Steve Yockey.

My favorite ep this season has to be American Nightmare. Creepy case and Sam had a chance to speak his mind and show some anger (which he needs to do more of, instead of being the mediator/counselor). I enjoyed the last ep a lot - again, it creeped me out in a good way, the direction and photography was excellent and that brothers moment was a nice touch.

OMG this would be the best thing, Lauren! Like Ocean’s 11. Eileen, Jessie and Caesar going undercover as guards and delivery people at the prison. Max and Alicia using their powers of persuasion to throw glamours and hallucinations at the warden and other staff. Jody and Donna showing up with fake extradition papers. Garth and Bess (while not hunters, they’d want to help) dressed up as religious missionaries who conduct services and interviews ala Dead Man Walking. Maybe Krissy Chambers outside the prison, ready to drive the getaway vehicle.

I can hear the music and see the montage right now. GIVE.ME.THIS.NOW.

One thing I love about s12 so far is that we are seeing more of Sam and Dean's little brother-big brother dynamic. Mary's return (even if she is not physically there most of the time) has changed the equation between Sam and Dean. Her presence seems to allow them to regress to younger versions of themselves - Dean's bliss in eating, his laughter at playing games, his teenage-style angst, Sam's tattle tale behavior to Jody, his need for physical affection and to touch Mary all the time, and then sitting with his headphones on in the car while not listening to Dean (tell me teenaged Sam didn't sit in the backseat pointedly ignoring Dean and John while listening to his music). Mary's presence even in the abstract relieves that crushing binary-star existence they've had through the years, gives them unspoken permission to lightened and react like kids in many ways. It's an interesting theme that some writers have handled well and others might have been a little heavy handed with. It also reminds me of s1 with smiles and pranks, which makes sense because John was still alive (and oh so similar in that he wasn't present as well but an abstract parent figure existing in the background).

Just had an epiphany. I think I might know what’s going to happen to Mary. Putting it below the cut because some of you aren’t going to like this, but it just makes so much SENSE.

I mentioned this to a few people like @hideyourdemoneyes but there’s been a lot of creepy foreshadowing around Mary and it all revolves around Lucifer.

1) The uncanny imagery of Mary’s foot on Dean’s neck is almost identical to Lucifer!Sam pose in The End. (12.01 Keep Calm And Carry On and 5.04 The End)

2) The creepy crib scene with ghost baby crying. Sure, it was traumatic for Mary given her personal experiences but it was also eerily reminiscent of Nick’s introduction to Lucifer, where he heard his dead baby crying and then had a vision that included an empty crib with blood running from it (12.03 The Foundry and 5.01 Sympathy For The Devil)

5) First case out of the gate for her and Mary was possessed (12.03 The Foundry).

So, now, we have Lucifer going on his murder-chaos-kill spree (12.07 Rock Never Dies) where he doesn’t care about the damage he does and there is no way to stop him. He is also in need of a new vessel and wants one that will last (hello, the Winchester/Campbell family line makes amazing vessels, thank you very much and we had the John/Dean parallel with Michael and now possibly Mary/Sam with Lucifer).

And we have Mary who feels out of place and time, saying how much she misses John and is okay with dying (eventually) to get back to heaven. She also feels an enormous amount of guilt - that it is all her fault - about Azazel and Sam, and what ultimately happened to their whole family (12.01 Keep Calm And Carry On). Mary is also a person who wants to clean up “loose ends”, willing to leave her toddler and husband behind to hunt (12.06 Celebrating The Life Of Asa Fox).

Before, I thought that Lucifer might try to trick her into possession, but now, I think Mary is going to have her own “Swan Song”, offering herself up as bait, working with the boys to figure out a way to get Lucifer back in the box. Sam and Dean know she is unhappy and they’ve had some time with her, and I’m guessing that just like with Sam back in s5, they may realize, they don’t have much of a choice. They also have Billie the reaper, who has played such a prominent part, so perhaps she can pull Mary’s soul out and send it to heaven before it goes in the Cage.

Do you hate the idea or agree?

(Let me leave you with a good thought.We know that Lucifer likes to come to potential vessels in dreams disguising himself as loved ones they’ve lost. Just maybe, we get JDM in a cameo as John? Please join me in a prayer circle for that.)

Since one of the themes for s12 seems to ‘fractured knowledge’ - knowing only part of the story - and how we’re getting to know Mary, here’s my question:

When will we meet Millie Winchester? As far as we know, she is still alive. That would be epic if Mary and her mother-in-law had a meet-up. Maybe she and John fought about Mary and that’s why she was never around. Maybe she thought Henry ran off with Josie. Poor bitter Millie.

OR maybe she became a ninja assassin.

Meet Them On The Dark Side

Why are we not talking about the tag line on the new S12 promo poster? The graphics reminds me of the S9 promo poster a bit in that it's foreshadowing something. 

Remember Sam looking down at the ground and being in a single layer? He looked very vulnerable and it stood out at the time as odd. And then in the next iteration of the poster, we had the shadow of the Gadreel wings. Again, Sam looks odd here, dressed all in black with that leather jacket. Dean too, right? When does he wear black leather? 

 And they're surrounded by a fiery doorway. Is this intended to be a throwback to Magnus from MoL? If you remember, his hidden lair had a doorway that popped up in the middle of a forest. Perhaps there are other dark, rogue MoL out there that need to be tracked down and hunted?
