Speaking from experience I find that Deans behaviour was not abusive in this context. As someone whos been abused before I can say his violent outburst was probably due to anger and aggression issues he developed as a RESULT of his experience with abuse (another reason I hate John and wont be able to accept a redemption arc but hey) though he was not taking it out on Cas and Sam so its not abusive (not physically or emotionally though their distress is justified). Just my 2 cents😗. Luv ur blog!
Agreed! Here’s the thing, I think: when people watch the show they connect with different parts of it in different ways, and when it comes to the extreme feelings regarding emotional/physical abuse, for example, people are going to connect that with the way they’ve felt. I do. That’s how we connect with TV, which is why there’s such a wide range of viewpoints and opinions in fandom, which makes it so interesting, and which can also cause tempestuous wank drama on the turn of a dime.
Due to my experiences, then, I’ll say this: Sam loves his brother. Castiel loves him. So when Dean is hurting in this scene and they’re helpless to do anything about it, that’s upsetting to them. Their love leaves room for understanding, and for forgiveness.
Thanks for this ask, anon! Luv u 2!
