SEASON 3 EPISODE 4 CLIP 3 - HAVE YOU BONED HIM?
Teacher: Okay, close the door guys. Thank you for coming to this talk about university orientation. I know we’ve said it a lot of times during the year, but we’re going to repeat it…
C: Hey girls, I can’t study at the library, I can’t concentrate and there is so much silence…
E: That’s what it’s about
C: Well...I don’t like it
N: I can’t go either. I’m meeting up with Miquel
E: With Miquel? To study?
C: Of course, anatomy
A: You see each other everyday or what?
E: Well, it looks like it because lately you take like eight hours to answer Whatsapp
C: Of course girl, she’s a very busy girl, can’t you see she spends the day “studying’’
Teacher: Girls, silence please
C: Sorry
Teacher: Well, that’s what we’re here for, the teachers, me, tutors, and these informational talks…
N: What?
A: You’re quite taken with him, right?
C: No… that isn’t what Amira wants to ask you. Obviously we want to know if you boned him? Okay look if you already studied him in depth, you know? Because with Alejandro you didn’t get to study him completely
A: She didn’t even make it to the first evaluation*
E: They didn’t make it to the finals
Teacher: Girls...can you tell us all what’s so funny? So we can laugh too
E: No… it’s that… Sorry José Ramón we were talking about our priorities in exams, it’s really important to make it to the finals
Teacher: Alright… Let’s pay attention, ok?... Okay what I was saying, since that day I lost interest and here I am….
A: Okay, now seriously, what does Miquel have?
N: I don’t know, he’s different
E: Oh different from Alejandro…
C: What?
N: Girl, what is this?
C: I didn’t have time to fix it…
E: I don’t know, he is… we like the same things… we can talk for hours and I trust him, I even like his friends
E: And…he’s hot
C: That’s an important fact
E: Priorities…
C: So… let’s see… why are you laughing? You don’t know what I’m going to tell you… Your studies… How are they going?... First exam: done. The second evaluation* , when?
[Alejandro leaves]
C: That wasn't subtle at all
N: I’m going to kill you. This is all your fault
C: Why mine?
N: You have a big mouth
Teacher: Girls, please, this is voluntary. If you want to be here, okay, if not, can leave like your classmate did.
E: Sorry Josera
Teacher: Vázquez, stop messing around. Let’s keep going
A: But one thing.... What’s the second evaluation? I’m lost
E: Girl. it varies, it depends on the person, there’s times that’s… and others is more… You know?
A: I don’t even know why I asked
E: Turn down the volume..
E: And selectividad**
Teacher: Girls, stop, can i continue?
E: We have to start studying now girls…you know, ongoing evaluation
N: Concentration
* In Spain, the school year is divided in 3 “terms”, or what we call them Evaluaciones (evaluation). Usually you have two exams of each subject per evaluation, the second one being the most important one. If you pass these exams, you pass the evaluation, and start a new one with new contents. Once you pass the three evaluations, your final grade for each subject is the average of the grades you got for each evaluation. It works like that in most of the subjects, but for example, in English we have ongoing evaluation (evaluación continua). There’s still 3 terms, but the contents of each term add to the previous ones, so the grade that you get on the third evaluation, is your final one. Here, the girls are joking comparing the first evaluation with first base, second evaluation with second base, etc.
** Selectividad is the exam that spanish students have to take at the end of senior year to go to university (kind of like SATs). It is really important to get good grades in both your final high school years and in this exam because universities have something called “nota de corte” (cut-off mark) which is like the minimum grade that you can have to apply for a degree in a public university.
