NCW, S6′s commentary: “My Heart....”
TWD “Just pretend you are brave.”
Rick is trying to help everyone escape the house they are trapped in (surrounded by zombie herd) by covering them in sheets coated in zombie guts and they finally go get Sam and he his freaking out and Jessie tells him:
“Just pretend you are brave. Pretend you are someone who is brave.”
This line ran all over me. What’s up with this? Is it because Jessie was abused, so she had to “pretend” to be brave? Had she given up on being truly brave herself? Why doesn’t she tell her kid that he can be brave? That he can be strong enough to face this? That he can do hard things? Why does she foster and nurture his fear by essentially telling him that he can’t handle reality and has to escape into a fiction to survive? It threw up yellow flags for me because it comes so close to referencing dissociative disorder. Anyway, catching up on TWD, so if you want to discuss this or enlighten me, feel free.

'A Wedding'
Kurt and Blaine. Glee's power couple; a ship that we were fairly certain would be endgame. And it is. At last we see the pinnacle of their love (?), vowing to spend the rest of their lives together. It was a great ceremony, with a lovely speech, wonderful friends, and two beautiful brides vowing to each other beside them. As happy as I am that these two delightful characters have finally united, I do have several problems with the way that their union was carried out.
Kurt and Blaine were practically peer pressured into getting married. They had been back together for a few days. A few days. After months of being in relationships with other people, they finally got back together, only to be forced guilted pressured into marrying each other. I have no doubt that they would have eventually gotten married, and been happy, but it would have been of their own accord. Kurt was opposed to the idea of marrying Blaine (at that moment)! Even when they were engaged, Kurt was ready for a long engagement, meaning that he didn't believe that he, nor Blaine, were ready for marriage. The decisions that they were urged to make by Brittany, Sue and Santana were not ones that should have been made in such a rushed manner! They were given only a few minutes to discuss the prospect of getting married! I understand that they were eager to get married before, but their relationship since that point has changed dramatically. There were reasons that they didn't work out the first (technically second, but I don't want to think about that breakup) time, and there is nothing to say that they won't just return to bickering. I do doubt that they would go back to that. They would make a greater effort than they did before to stay calm with one another, and love each other in the way that they always had, but I am simply reinforcing my point that their decision to be wed was entirely too rushed and impromptu.
Brittany obviously planned this in advance, explaining her wishes to Sue and Santana (possibly others). Honestly, I think it was quite rude on her part to demand (or ask very convincingly) that Kurt and Blaine be wed during her and Santana's ceremony. She shouldn't have asked them to take that large step in their newly rekindled relationship, simply for her own enjoyment (although she most definitely had them in mind, honestly thinking that it was the best thing for them. Unfortunately, this was not her decision to make, but rather something that Kurt and Blaine should have worked out when they came to it.) Sidenote: those suit jackets would have been expensive, so it seems a little odd to me that Brittany would spent her money on renting/buying wedding outfits for Kurt and Blaine... Also, what was wrong with what they were wearing already? It looked great!
In sixty or seventy years time, will Kurt and Blaine look back on their wedding day and regret not having the ceremony that they had always dreamed of? Singing Come What May, having all of the people that were dear to them present (I'm positive that Blaine would have invited the Warblers had he been alerted of Brittany's plans prior to the day), being surrounded by a place that held personal significance to them, rather than to Santana and Brittany. I really just think that their wedding could have been so much more, something so much more personal to them, rather than a piggyback-joint ceremony with two of their friends.
Although I suppose that there were a few positives for them, aside from getting married and all. They didn't have to pay for a ceremony that usually is quite pricey for couples. There was a lack of preparation, which provided a lack of stress, a factor that broke them up a few months prior. They were with their friends, or at least some of them. And they had each other, which is all they really need, I suppose.
