Take Back The Night is an annual event that aims to raise awareness about sexual assault, support survivors of violence,

and promote action within our community to end sexual and gender-based violence.

SAAAC and the WRRC would like to invite the Davis community to take action against gendered violence and to act in solidarity with survivors and those affected by sexual harassment or assault. We encourage y'all to join us for a march from North Hall to the Student Community Center to begin Take Back the Night. We hope to create a space in which survivors and people of marginalized gender identities can reclaim the night, reclaim safety, and feel empowered! We encourage aspiring allies to join us in creating a safer community. We will be meeting in front of the Women's Resources & Research Center (North Hall) and marching to the Student Community Center. Come at 5:30 to make posters, create community agreements, and brainstorm chants. Come at 6:15 to begin the march! Take Back the Night begins at 7:00 PM in the SCC. The pathway from North Hall to the SCC is wheel chair accessible. All marching paces will be honored. Please join us in taking action on an issue which affects us all. Shatter the silence. Stop the violence. There will also be community resource tabling including Women's Health Specialists, Gender Health Center, Health Education and Promotion, and Welcome Home Doula Services.

As a Chinese-American, dumplings have been an integral part of my life. I've always preferred them to many other types of dishes my mother makes because of how simple, yet tasty, they were.

I remember sitting in my little boy seat, with a bowl full of dumplings that have been cut in half with chopsticks by my parents. I would stick my fork into it, make sure there was enough vinegar on it, and pop it into my mouth. Always delicious.

When I got older, I've tried dumplings from all over the world. The US has some restaurants with dumplings. However, the specialty dumpling restaurants in China were the best. There were combinations of ingredients I have never tried before inside the dumpling and they each had an unique taste and texture.

I know dumplings are a dish that many have tasted, but SAAAC is offering a chance for everyone to learn how to make their own dumplings. Folding the filling into the dumpling skin is an art, and we hope you guys come out and join us in this experience.

What is SAAAC?

What is SAAAC?

The Students in Alliance for Asian-American Concerns (SAAAC) is a student-run organization that aims to promote Asian awareness on campus with the goal of eliminating stereotypes and racism.  Through awareness campaigns, discussion panels, and other social, educational, and informative events, SAAAC provides a forum for Emory students to discuss social, cultural, and political concerns and issues that affect Asian-American youth today.

With Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) students representing 19% of  the undergraduate student body, SAAAC strives to strengthen their voice on campus by providing opportunities for APIA students to further involve themselves in the larger Emory Community.  We also work closely with other student groups to help foster unity among the diverse ethnic groups at Emory.

The SAAAC General Body meets on a regular basis to address the status of Asian-Americans on campus, to discuss pertinent issues, to respond to incidents of intolerance, to plan events, and simply to hang out and have a great time!

The Leadership Committee is a subdivision of SAAAC that focuses on training freshmen students in leadership skills and campus involvement.
