To have...and to hold.......
I have a plan this year. Nothing too exciting or indeed unusual but new for me. I am going to get more and more of my images printed. To hold them and to show them off in the time honoured fashion many of us were used to as a kid.
So my first step into having images to hold on to was to create a photo book of my trips to Iceland last year. I have only spent a few weeks on the island however, it has grabbed hold of me and is a place I KNOW I will return to many many times.
So it was fate that @saal.digital.uk was offering photographers a great deal to sample their photo books. So I asked to be involved and they let me create a book full of moments I will never forget. I will leave a link at the bottom for you all to have a look and I'm sure you can let me know what you think too ;-)
The whole process from start to finish was easy. I downloaded the software used to create the size, cover, paper quality and templates then once that was decided the real fun began. Choosing and placing the images and words to each page was a great way to tell the story of my memories from Iceland. The hardest part for me was choosing what to leave out and I also wanted to keep words to a minimum. Once completed I saved and uploaded the project to the saal digital site. This was again all contained within the software provided. A quick update of details and delivery address then its sent off to be printed.
The book arrived and I was delighted with the quality and “feel” of MY book. The A4 hardback cover I chose is impactful and clear. The thick pages of matt photo paper really shows off my memories in a way no computer screen can. I feel this is an excellent way to show off these images in a more immediate way than a large print or a collage of prints on a wall. The reader, and I can assure you there are very few words, can now experience this magical place through my eyes and start to wonder how it must have been to witness such scenes. Who knows. Maybe even be inspired to visit Iceland for themselves. :-)
Here is a link to view the finished book. Contact me if you ever want a copy :-)
