They finally won their last game at the camp. It had been a long five days of games, training and practice. But in the end, it was all worth it. Especially for the third years as this would be their last one before they graduated.
After the game, the team and Komori went back to the location they were staying to shower and get some food before heading to the bus. They only had an hour so everyone was in a hurry. Oharano took a shower first before heading to grab something simple to eat, he didn’t want to be bothered with the rest of the idiots. And the headache he was having didn’t help his mood. Damn that Sagami, that one guy and his brute tackle made him hit his head with the guy’s shoulder. Now he was suffering for it. Luckily for him, he heard that no one was in the sleeping quarters as they were all too busy stuffing their faces, so that meant Etsugo could sneak in a few minutes of quiet and hopefully this headache would go away.
But that didn't happen.
Before he could even step into the room, he felt a hand grab his wrist and then being dragged into the nearest closet. Oharano was pissed, he was about to argue with whoever grabbed him when he was silenced. He was met with lips on his own and an even hotter body pressed against him. He should’ve known. Ebumi was high with pride from the game since he and Ise were the ones that did the plays that caused their win.
Bastard must be enjoying the praise he was getting from everyone. It was well deserved but still annoying.
He sighed as he encircled his arms around his boyfriend’s neck, feeling himself being lifted before wrapping his legs around the taller’s waist. Might as well enjoy this, they didn’t have much time left anyway before being called to leave the establishment.
Damnit, it was so hard to not make noises; Ebumi’s tongue and teeth were doing such things on his neck, it was a good thing he was being carried since if he were standing, his knees would’ve been shaking. Idiot knew how to get him riled up with a few strokes of that hot tongue and skillful hands roaming over his heated skin.
Etsugo’s hand covered his mouth as to prevent any sounds from escaping as Ebumi kept teasing him on the most sensitive areas. Hot mouth on his neck, teasing fingers dipping into the back of his pants before kneading his ass. His mind was spinning, feeling those hands and mouth, the feeling of the winger’s body heat and how their hips were grinding up against one another.
But he also knew how to rile Ebumi, just whisper hotly in his ear, “Ma...saru...”
Bingo.
The fly half smirked as he heard a deep growl coming from Ebumt, his large hands gripped his rear harder and his hips were gyrating with force that any harder, they would be causing rucks against the wall. And they didn’t want that to happen.
Hearing footsteps, and voices outside the door, the half-fly was getting nervous, but at the same time excited at the thought of being caught in such a compromising position.
This was so embarrassing. His boyfriend better hurry the hell up before they were called and letting everyone know exactly what they were up too.
After their heavy make out, Oharano sent a glared up at the winger, ignoring the smug look before leaving the closet and heading back to where he originally thought of going, before once more getting stopped but it was Gion this time. He was told that everyone was getting ready to leave and that he should hurry. And also mentioned that he looked like shit. Etsugo growled and smacked the kid upside his head before stomping to get his belonging before meeting with the rest outside.
On the bus and heading back home, Etsugo sighed, fingers working on his texts being sent to his brother as he tuned out the mess and noises around him. He was sitting on the back, phone in hand as Ebumi was next to him. Arm around his shoulders as the idiot was laughing loudly with Ise, still enjoying the afterglow of their win. Really, couldn’t they just shut up for a while. How annoying. Once he finished his last text to his brother, letting him know that they were on their way back before placing the device into his hoodie pocket and leaning back against his seat, eyes closed. Headache hasn’t good and it was starting to get worse. He did noticed that the laughter next to him stopped and he must’ve imagine it but he felt a soft touch of lips on the side of his head before falling asleep.
Everything was going peacefully; the noises in the bus weren’t so loud anymore, guessing some of the guys fell asleep. The soft rocking of the ride was actually soothing, plus...having a nice warm body cuddling up with him as Etsugo’s head was on his boyfriend’s shoulder.
Yup, everything was fine.
Until...
A sudden jerk of the large vehicle caused those asleep to jump up, there were some confusion and already some were getting up to see what was going on. Etsugo frowned, rubbing his eyes as he looked around only to hear screaming.
“GET DOWN!”
He didn’t know who yelled, maybe Komori-san? The captain? Suddenly the bus was swiveling dangerously onto traffic and the next thing he knew, Ebumi threw himself onto him before everything went black.
Caramel eyes slowly opened. Etsugo’s vision was blurry for a moment before focusing. He noticed he was looking up at nothing but darkness and laying down on the ground. But nothing else. The half-fly groaned, rubbing his head as he carefully stood up before turning his gaze around, checking to see what in the world just happened and for a second felt a slight panic as he couldn’t see or hear anything. That was until he felt a large hand on his shoulder, making him jump at the contact before spinning around. And to his relief, it was Ebumi. Thank God.
He was about to ask his boyfriend what happened when he was pulled into a strong embrace, Ebumi nuzzling onto his neck tenderly. Etsugo was a bit concern at the usual abrasive teammate to be so...gentle. He must’ve been scared at whatever the hell happened to him earlier.
Soon (much to his dislike) was let go and noticed them that some of the other guys were not too far from them. He saw Iwashimizu balling his eyes out, Raita trying to comfort him. Komori was looking at the group with a somber look, which caused a sad feeling in Etsugo’s chest before seeing more of his teammates. But not all.
“Whats going...” “We’re dead, stupid.” Eyes shot towards the older male, shock and baffled that Ebumi would be saying such things.
“If this is a sick joke, its not funny.”
“Its not, idiot. Look around, ya think this is a joke!”
Etsugo just stared at his boyfriend, wondering if he was lying or messing with him as he usually did. But that look on his eyes were telling him the truth, the younger male could see confusion, anger, fear in those dark eyes. He sighed and closed his eyes, trying to remember what happened before now...and it kinda did make sense. For what he gathers with what little memories he had, there was some type of accident, he remembered the screaming, the bus jerking and swaying dangerously...Ebumi throwing himself onto him. He looked at the other in awe at what the winger tried to do. “You tried to shield me, didn’t you?” Ebumi looked a bit put off as he crossed his arms, his eyes adverted.
“Like that shit worked.” Etsugo smiled softly and leaned to lay his head against Ebumi’s shoulder, “You’re an idiot, but...” he then whispered before placing a soft kiss on his neck, “Thank you.”
He smiled even more as he felt his boyfriend slowly relax and leaned to nuzzle his hair. Yes, Etsugo would be sad that he wouldn’t see his family again, but if it mean he would be staying with Ebumi for a very long time, then it wouldn’t be so bad. “C’mon, lets go. I see the others moving.” Damn, he was kinda enjoying the closeness with the older male. It wasn’t like they didn’t have anything else to do so a few small nuzzling here and there would’ve been ok to do. But alas, Ebumi moved away from him, but not before feeling a kiss on his forehead and his hand being grabbed. He looked over at the others, seeing that less than half were here...which was a good thing. That mean the rest of the team were still alive and he hoped they were doing well. As they walked, Etsugo noticed how quiet everything was; how quiet Ebumi was, but he didn’t think nothing of it as he was still trying to come to terms with what just happened to them. It was going to be rough for his family, for Ebumi’s, for the guys that were here, also know that they were still processing everything that happened as they walked together. Etsugo clung onto that comforting hand, it was the only thing that was keeping him grounded and not lose his mind over what had happened to him, to all of them. And he hoped he was doing the same for his boyfriend too.
The group continued walking, and talking quietly among themselves as Etsugo would glance at Ebumi. It was a bit weird to have the loud, annoying winger so damn quiet. Sure, they had their quiet time before, like when they were together alone at their houses, or maybe at a park...or whatever, but it was a comfortable quiet. Not...not this tension, half scared out of your mind type quiet. The younger blond squeezed his boyfriend’s hand, over and over whenever he felt a bit overwhelmed and was immediately calmed every time as he felt Ebumi squeezing back.
After what felt like a really long time, they found themselves in front of a large, long and pristine white gates. It began to slowly open and Etsugo jumped, clinging onto the other’s arm, fingers digging into his skin. He was scared, he didn’t care right now that the other guys were there, could be seeing him so afraid. But everything that was happening was more important than what the others thought of him.
He kept to himself as the large gates continued to open, staring up in awe at how huge and beautiful they were. There were hushed words around him, the guys that were there talking among themselves quietly as they must be confused as he was and Etsugo wondered if this could be what he thought it was.
He turned to look up at Ebumi, but the winger was whispering something to Matsu-senpai; and by the look of it, it didn’t sit well with the older male. Etsugo felt his stomach drop; not that he had anything against the closeness of his boyfriend and his senpai, in fact...Etsugo liked the idea that the former delinquent had someone he could confined with. It made him thing that Ebumi wasn’t alone and he was grateful for that.
As the gates were finally wide open, the group kinda just stood there, not really knwoing what to do until slowly began to move forward. Were they being let inside? Was this heaven? So many questions, and some doubts...but regardless, they had to move somewhere.
Etsugo didn’t know what to do but he might as well head with the rest inside, maybe find some answers to what was going on and where they were; even though he knew, he could feel exactly where they were.
But as he took a few steps passed the gates, Ebumi’s hand slowly slipped away from him. The fly half stopped and turned, frowning as his boyfriend just stood there, with that insufferable smirk on his lips, hands in his pockets; looking like he didn’t have a care in the world.
But something was off.
Etsugo ignored the red flags as he turned around to face his boyfriend, a hand on his hips and his own smirk on his face; it was just Ebumi being a little brat and teasing him about something; like he usually did.
“What? Scared? Don’t be an idiot, just come on and let’s go because....”
And then it happened.
The gates were closing.
And Ebumi hadn’t moved.
Etsugo now felt the dread creeping into his chest as more and more of the gates were closing in, and his boyfriend remained outside.
“What are you doing? Stop being a damn brat and get in here!” Etsugo tried not to panic, tried to think that his boyfriend was just going to jump at the last minute because he wanted to freak him out. Even in the damn afterlife, Ebumi had to be a pain in the ass.
But...this wasn’t right.
“Ebumi! Come on or you will be left outside like the idiot you are!”
He was about to head to reach for him, to grab his hand and drag him before the gates closed. Would it be ok or allowed to curse this idiot for scaring him like that? because he deserved it.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t take a step as Matsuo had grabbed onto him; the older male looked distraught at Ebumi.
No....this was...no....he wasn’t.
“Let go of me, Matsuo-senpai, I have to get him!”
“I...I can’t.” a pause, “He told me not to let you go after him.”
Caramel eyes snapped at him, wide and fearful before quickly looking over at Ebumi. Still pose that carefree pose.
“No...Let me go! I’m not letting him stay out there!”
Etsugo began to struggle as he tried his best to get to Ebumi, he couldn’t let him stay there alone. He could feel his chest tightening, his eyes watering as the gates were moving.
“Ebumi, you idiot! Don’t just stand there! Get in here or I swear...!!” a sob came out from his lips as more hands were holding him back; telling him that it was too late and that he couldn’t save him.
But Etsugo fought back; he did what he had to do to get free, “Please! Don’t do this! Ebumi!” he cried out, not hearing the others crying as well...all he could focus was trying to get to Ebumi. “Masaru, please! Don’t leave me! Don’t do this, please!”
Etsugo could see how Ebumi’s features soften, a sad look over his eyes, seeing them misty as he mouth the words before the gates completely shut him out.
I love you...I’m sorry....
A loud heartbreaking scream could be heard from the inside of the gates.
