The grand gesture of it all is no surprise to Melany, she knows her wife. The surprise is in the fact that she wants to make one, even after every argument they had leading up to this point. Her dress wasn’t flashy enough, she’d donated the one that Johanna has left out for her, the wine wasn’t right, a thousand little things to nit pick at one another, and here was her apology. It was enough, it was always enough, because she had learned to read her wife a long, long time ago. A smile tipped her chin up, as she rose from the chair to take the hand that had been held out for her. Turning to the small audience, she waved her free one. “Ladies and gentlemen, and people of the planet, my wife, Johanna Cruz. I hope tonight has been everything you hoped for, because I know it was for her, and I, for one, am honored to have the last dance.”
