Sad FMP au where Sousuke gets into a terrible accident and has to succumb to staying in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He had to leave Mithril and although Kaname takes care of him, he's lost a sense of happiness and purpose in his life since he can't physically do anything for himself

Sad fmp au where Sagara is dismissed from working with Mithril and forced to live a normal civilian life. And he is still the same paranoid war junkie but instead of people accepting it they stay away from him and want nothing to do with his weirdness, including Chidori, and so he lives his school years and after alone struggling to adapt to a life he was not ready for.

FMP au where Chidori gets diagnosed with a fatal disease and as much as Sousuke wants to stay by her side all the time, work keeps preventing it. She lives her life bed ridden and he lives his life working and only wishing to see her as much as he can. He finds out from a call that she had passed away alone while he was busy doing a mission.

sad fmp - sousuke prepares to finally propose to kaname, but as he's arriving to his date to ask the big question, the enemy finds kaname defenseless and kills her. He arrives to discover her body.

Sad Fmp - the final scenes of Sagara reuniting with Chidori and promising to stay with her always, kissing her afterward was all a dream Sousuke made up in his head. He is still fighting on the field, he failed at protecting Chidori's life, and he just lays on on the ground expressionless, explosions going off around him, his teammates yelling at him to get up.

Fmp au where Sousuke gets injured in battle and is forced to amputate both his arms. He comes back and Mithril decided he isn't the best candidate for protecting Chidori anymore and she is assigned with another guard, he is also discharged from Mithril as he can no longer control a mech. ;/

More sad headcanon: Based on brief mention in the novels, Tessa had feelings for Bani, the Whispered boy who developed Al. Her cling to Sousuke isn't really about him so much as it's about his (irrevocable) tie to the last thing Bani made before the Whispers drove him to madness and, eventually, ending himself.

I’d believe this if not for the fact that her being drawn towards him started well before he knew the Arbalest existed... Though perhaps it could have added to her persistence

Sad Headcanon: Sousuke never really gets over Nami's death. He didn't quite share her feelings, not after that brief shaken moment in the Crossbow before parting with her for the final time, but that guilt will never leave him. Even more sadly, Kaname understands and in a really weird, small way shares it, because she resonated with Nami just as she passed on.

This is too true... I’m sure they both do have those feelings Q_Q
