4 weeks ago, I held you after surgery. I helped you into bed. I lifted your dog for you so you could have your sleeping buddy. I tied your shoes. I drove all around the city to buy foods you could eat after a stomach surgery. I drove to 3 different rite aids to get you pain pills.

2 days ago you called me the most selfish person you've ever known, because I made myself some egg salad and didn't make enough for you.

Today, my heart hurts cuz I know I'll never get to kiss you again when it's all I want. I can't rub your feet anymore. You won't look at me without tears or anger in your eyes.

I know it's right to walk away. I know I have to. I know I'm doing this. But nothing about this is easy or painless.
