LOTRO OCs: Saerben
An elf of Rivendell, he never felt a sense of satisfaction possessing little of anything. It seemed he always craved more, and mostly in a monetary sense. As he grew older and self sufficient, he traveled widely while earning coin as a champion. A failed relationship brought him great bitterness, and he threw himself into a life of greed and anger. While he is willing to spend his earnings on expensive clothing, weapons and gear, he will use it for little else. Unfortunately, he has begun a habit of intimidating those of lesser height, and is not beyond cheating someone out of their own gold. There is no one he trusts, and no one he would call friend.
These have been kicking around in my drafts forever. There’s nothing special about them, it’s just Saerben being a jerk in Rohan. But I thought SOMEONE might enjoy. :p

(a fading memory - for some reason I chose Saerben :p)
At one time there had been a lover.
Saerben could no longer recall if they were male or female, fair or dark, of a height comparable to his own or of one quite dissimilar. They had been an elf, certainly; he had never left Rivendell during the first hundred years of his life and had not associated with anyone beyond his own kin.
Perhaps he had been happy to be half of a pair then. Now he did not belong to anyone, and certainly not any thing other than the craving which drove him to seek more wealth and the feeling of power, of being in control. There was little he would not do to achieve these longings. If he caused others to suffer as a result, it was not an inconvenience to him. It would be fair for them to experience pain, as he had.
Love was insubstantial and inconsequential. It was fleeting and fickle, like a rain cloud which promised to burst open on parched land, then moved to a verdant field and wasted its life-giving water there instead. If he struggled to remember, that must have been what happened to this distant memory of a love long lost.
Wealth made no promises it could not keep. The bright gleam of gold would obtain whatever he wished in life, be it objects or position. There was not much else he wanted.
Elves remember long years of their history, but Saerben had focused so hard on his new devotion that this particular memory had nearly faded into nothing.
✭ for Saerby. <3
(what is one of their favorite items) You mean… besides money, right? :p
Hmm well.. It’s a bit rude to call a horse an “item” but I believe if he had to choose something it would be Morn. He’s a big horse, which makes Saerben look even bigger, and he’s all about that. So it’s like the ultimate accessory, and he’s even got “armor”… Plus it just screams “LOOK AT ME I SPENT A TON OF MONEY ON THIS FANCY PUREBRED STEED, YOU CANNOT COMPARE, PEASANTS”
Except he communicates that through a cold and haughty expression rather than yelling. :b
~Thanks again, bbface!
⌆ foooor Gary, a ⇅ for Tornik aaaand ✑ for Saerben :) <3
(a nervous tic or habit they do) Ohh, Garavon and his pacing. I think he paces when nervous as well as when worrying, so this works here also. It calms him, and I think he benefits from it. It also amuses me to think of him not having much room to pace sometimes, so with his long legs he is just taking a few steps before turning around and starting again. :p
(do they look up or down when thinking) I believe… both, actually. Depends on how he’s feeling. Tornik’s usually outside, so I like to imagine him studying the sky while he’s thinking at times, and then at other times looking at the earth instead. He draws a lot of comfort from nature, so it probably helps him think a lot better.
(describe something they like without naming it) The cold gleam, perfect roundness, and pleasant metallic clinking of a lot of them together makes him super happy. Happy in the only way Saerben ever is. :B
~Thank you for your q’s <33
