Missing Friend (@more-than-a-princess)
“...So, the hamster--er--Dark Deva’s name was ‘Cham-P’?”
Shuichi asks, tapping the eraser of his pencil against his cheek, eyeing the rest of the notes he’d taken before forcing the notepad back into the front pocket of his Reserve Course uniform. All of the details of Cham-P’s appearance were already written down, but the minor detective still needed confirmation that he hadn’t misheard some of the details.
“And you think that he will respond to that name? I mean, guess if the Ultimate Animal Breeder raised him, I guess that’s not too outlandish for a hamster but--”
Shuichi trailed off for only a moment, shaking his head to refocus.
“Actually, don’t worry about it. You said that the last place Gundham saw him was when he met you outside the dorms yesterday morning, right? And he noticed Cham-P was missing right before you walked into the Main Course building?”
He shuffled stodgily in his uniform, still confident, but wondering just how effectively he could search given the situation. Kyoko being chosen over Shuichi for the title of Ultimate Detective had left his parents paying his way for the Reserve Course and try again a year later once Kyoko had graduated. Not that he resented the outcome; Shuichi himself felt that Kyoko was far more skilled that he was. Still, a part of him felt that he had something he needed to prove, maybe not to the ultimate students, but to himself. That, well, maybe there was something he could do better than Kyoko. She had never found anyone’s missing pet, after all; at least as far as he knew...
“I think we need to go search there first, but if I go looking around outside the Main Course building alone it might raise some questions.”
Shuichi looked up again, making eye contact with Sonia and pulling away from his own thoughts.
“...Is it alright if you go with me then? I understand if its too much to ask for now...”
