You find the best post on Seazuru so I know you are very dedicated. What is your thoughts on Yashiro and Doumeki having a happy ending.
Hello and thank you! I try to re-blog a ton to keep the Saezuru posts alive haha. In short, I hold out hope for them having a happy ending, though maybe not the usual simple "happy ending" definition, but 'happy' for them. I try to look at other works by Yoneda-sensei and while sometimes works between the same author vary greatly, overall I think sensei creates endings that are a net "positive" for her characters. Personally, I want to believe that they will have a "happy for them, considering what they've lived through" ending because I can't see Yoneda-sensei putting Yashiro through so much incessant pain and misfortune, only to deny him happiness at the end of his story. I do believe that Doumeki is the key to that happiness, the key to helping Yashiro believes he deserves to love and to be loved himself, that's why I hold out hope that their ending will be them together in some way. Aside from that though, I do figure there is still the possibility that it will not end "happy" the way many might envision, including myself. Yoneda-sensei is unpredictable to me, which is saying a lot and likely why I love this story so much, so I really can't confidently predict where she'd envision the story to go. Maybe the "happy ending" will be for Yashiro only, or maybe the "happy ending" will be more Romeo and Juliet style, depending on one's definition of "happy". I'm sorry I couldn't be more confident in my answer, but I will continue my hopeful desire of their ending to be right for them. Preferably with Yashiro accepting that he can be loved, that he isn't cattle but a beautiful soul, and Doumeki accepting that he isn't a monster but a lover, and they can finally find solace in each other.
