@seolhyunmi
jinah didn’t tail qian because she particularly liked her in any way. she was just interested in what she did; called it caution and dusted her hands free of it. there was a girl in particular who stood out, of course, and one that seemed to take up a lot of qian’s time. was this the reason why she wanted things to end between them? (a preposterous little request, of course: they both knew it couldn’t really be over, could it?) if so, then the woman is an annoyance. a gnat, in the grand scheme of things. a flea. a very pretty flea, to be true, but a flea nevertheless. she wouldn’t spend her energy on a flea, no matter how much it annoyed her.
unless, of course, it’s for a job.
that she even gets a job while everyone else is having fun is just her luck, but she figures she’ll make this quick and enjoy the rest of the chaotic day.
so she drives by, slowly, beside a girl who looks like she’s trying to be less beautiful than she is on a day where monsters prey on women like her. she rolls her windows down and slows to a near-stop, enough to match her pace. the car isn’t hers, of course. the number plate can’t be traced. there are a million silver toyotas here. “hey, hey! seolhyun, right?” she flashes a smile intended to be shy, cautious. “please tell me yes. i’m a friend of qian’s – she told me to look for you. it’s not safe to be out here, you know. i can give you a ride, if you want?”
