"Ah," dismissive - don't thank him: "what are neighbours for?" (for Augie? sidenote here, the doc's 100% lying about being a neighbour LOL. or he's talking in loose terms i.e. they're in the same galactic neighbourhood .. by chance .... travelling)
“Well then, all the more reason to thank you properly, neighbour.” she spoke, unable to stop a small amused expression. Augie was pretty damn sure she’d never seen him before, which meant he was either new there or passing through. Or lying. Though at the moment it didn’t really matter if he was lying, or whether he was entirely supposed to be there, since he was being kind. “You sure you don’t need anything?” Sure, she wanted to make things ‘even’, and help out who had helped her. She also wanted to try and tease out just what had led this man to be just at that spot at just the right time. A hunch, maybe. A flicker in the back of the mind. Nothing more.

“Please don’t accidentally blow up our ship.” (journeyedstars | Talian)
A small huff of frustration escaped Augustine before she collected herself and turned to the person who had spoken. “Just because I currently work in Security doesn’t mean I don’t know how to change a fuse, I assure you. And, should a stray jolt occur, I would rather it be me who gets zapped than a civilian.” “Unless you have some incredibly good reason for why it should be you fixing this..?”
❝it’s the only way i can escape.❞
“That’s not healthy.” Augie commented, tilting her head as she studied the other. “Escapism, that is, and only having one.” “Far be it for me to tell someone how to manage, of course, but typically it’s healthy to not need to escape in the first place, right?”
''Heidegger means to turn my beloved Proud Clod against our enemies, and I wish to get close enough to my Sister Ray. If I can reach the mainframe and overpower Hojo," here Scarlet paused, reapplying lipstick as if going to a date, rather than a desperate battle in a robot goliath, "then I can safely shut down my weapon. This is of vital importance. Any explosion would be catastrophic." She glanced sharply at Augie. "Meaning, you must be ready, if I should fail. Get Reeve, shut it down."
“Director-” Augie started, eyes flashing ever so slightly as she tried to keep her tone level. They’d worked together long enough that Scarlet could likely guess how much Augie did not like that plan. She also knew Augie well enough to know that she would follow orders, protect the greater good, but find every damn loophole possible to try and save both.
“Scarlet, there has to be a way that I can go in instead. You’re needed out here, you will continue to be needed. My job is to make sure you can do that, and that requires me being the one to go into danger, not you.” Not that she thought Scarlet couldn’t do it, by any means, but Augie was the one who was supposed to be on the front line, protecting the executives.
Scarlet meanwhile... Scarlet was a genius. She could design weapons to fight anything and she could tear them down again to build something else later. She could build a better future, but she needed to survive to do so.
"You're coming with me." No self-respecting Turk much enjoyed the moment that an Executive singled them out for an assignment (except where that Executive was Director Tuesti, of course), but with Director West, it was likely that the job would at least be interesting. ''I need someone trustworthy who knows when to keep their mouth shut." - Scarlet, for Augie
It certainly wasn’t how Augie had intended to spend the day, but that was hardly in her control. Scarlet was... a notoriously difficult executive to work with, but for whatever reason, they seemed to work well together. Or at least, Scarlet didn’t seem to hate her.“Yes, ma’am. Is there anything I need to bring?”
