As a single woman who lives alone, I recently found out about the Noonlight app. It’s a safety app that more women should know about and have.
You open it whenever you’re in a situation that could be unsafe and hold your thumb down on the button on the screen until you’re somewhere you feel safe again. As soon as your finger comes off the screen, a 10 second timer starts. If you don’t enter your 4 digit code (that you pick when you first get the app) in that time, it sends your location to emergency services and dispatches them to you.
It can be used subtly in dangerous situations where you can’t outright call 911 or it can be used as a threat against someone (like an Uber/Lyft driver) being predatory or creepy by explaining what it is and what will happen if they don’t let you out of the car.
Use it. Be safe. Spread the word to your fellow women.

If you are in a dangerous situation and somehow become unconscious or are otherwise unable to communicate, the officer needs to know what you look like. If you are incapacitated and need to go to the hospital, the staff needs to know if you're allergic to anything or if you're on any medications.
