Expired Safeway Select Limeade
Rating: C-
I was outside all day and looking for a tasty refreshment other than the water I had been drinking. I was all out of soda, neither milk nor orange juice were going to do the trick, and it was too early in the day for a beer, so I decided to pour a glass from an open, half-empty, bottle of Safeway Select Limeade.
I don't have much experience with limeade, it may be just as refreshing as an icy glass of lemonade, but I didn't enjoy my glass of limeade. People may try and inform you that generic brands are just as good as name brand, but, in general, you're just going to get hosed by generic. In this instance, though, I don't think the problem was generic Dominick's brand limeade, but rather that this particular bottle of limeade was both open and had expired in mid-January.
Unless this bottle had been opened at a gathering I was not privy to, I must had imbibed from it previously; I do not remember how it originally tasted. There were a few bubbles remaining, but nothing about it could be described as "sparkling," as the bottle proclaims. The taste was quite sour, like I was drinking watered down lime juice purchased from a dollar store. I was thirsty, so I drank all of the liquid from the plastic, Hawaiian themed glass I had selected, due to its ability to hold a substantial amount of the vaguely green, cloudy lime drink, but I did not enjoy it. I guess my thirst was sated, so the Safeway Select Limeade drink, at the very least, fulfilled part of its goal of wetting my pallet.
I poured the rest down the drain.
