Connaught Sapphire Brooch

How it came into the Danish royal family collection:

Wedding gift to Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia who married Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, 7th child of Queen Victoria, in 1879 from a Colonel Stannerly.

Inherited by their daughter, Crown Princess Margaret of Sweden (she added the pearl chains).

After her death in 1920, the sapphire brooch was inherited by her only daughter, who became Queen Ingrid of Denmark, Queen Margrethe's mother

Queen Margarethe later gifted the brooch to her daughter-in-law Mary. Mary wore it for the first time at the christening of her first child, Prince Christian, in 2006, and later for the christening of the twins. She poignantly rewore it to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary, Christian's confirmation and 18th birthday anniversary.
