The thing is, call me delusional (ha), but both the way O-Viper reacted to O-Sage being in the stasis chamber during the cinematic as well as this song in O-Viper's playlist:
—seems to imply that Sage and Viper were together at one point. Likely before the VL, of course, but still; Sage is the only person we've been introduced to that has definitively wronged Viper (or at least that's how Viper sees it), and the specification of "my girl" in this song as well as the fact that Viper has acknowledged Sage's usefulness, competence, and "perfection" before while clearly trusting her on the battlefield all point to her having more complicated feelings toward Sage than most sources give her credit for. Complicated feelings that could potentially be based in a past romance/past romantic feelings.
Idk, I suppose I could be reaching, but Riot really had no reason to put this song in Viper's playlist if they weren't hinting at something along these lines imo. Plus, it would make Viper's inconsistently icy demeanor toward Sage make even more sense.
But I digress—to get back to your ask, I bring this up because to me, the idea of Sage not just having feelings for Viper and holding back from expressing them as she watches her and Chamber get together, but rather Sage having been with Viper before and watching as Chamber essentially fills the gaping hole she left in Viper's heart, is extra painful. I'm sure it had to have been torturous to watch Viper take comfort (both emotional and physical) in Chamber while Sage watched on in the background, being slowly consumed by her own radiance and knowing that the only reason Viper wasn't by her side is because she ruined it, and she lost that chance.

actually... WHY are chamber and viper together,,, i don't get it, genuinely. i see reasoning for other ships with viper as reasonable (sage and viper's relationship straight up gives me 'and they were exes' vibes)
