     [ it wasn't much fun living without an apartment, in some smelly district where he was sure was not exactly a common place for a teenage boy to live. it brought out the more emotional side of him, he found, living there alone. without his best friends or aunt there with him, everything felt that much darker. honestly, it was starting to wear thin on his optimism. there had to be some way out, someone who he could talk to in order to just communicate with the people he'd left back home. so far, no-one seemed to have any answers at all. they were all as clueless as him, which was needless to say disheartening. ]

     [ the little luxuries made the experience a fraction better; the fact that he was still in possession of both his camera and his spidey-suit seemed to be silver linings upon thick, dark clouds. still, he was grateful. he'd taken to snapping photographs of Hive City life, since he figured he'd need a job sooner or later and it felt...natural to simply carry on with what he knew. not that there was a demand for spider-man shots. yet. it was all about getting your foot in the door, or whatever those school assemblies were about. snap! the woman turned as the flash went off, possibly blinding her as her eyes drew level with the brilliant light of the camera. immediately, peter lowered the device and set about making amends. ]

     "oh, uh, i'm so sorry about that. i guess i forgot to switch the setting from the previous shot. how are your eyes? do you need anything, uh, water or something?"
