Mother is not only a woman who gave birth to you.Mother can also be a woman that gave you Mother’s love when you needed it the most. I haven’t met this woman, Yanira Perdomo, yet, but I am so grateful to her for partly raising Teresa @thaira.music who had a very troubled and painful childhood because of complicated family constellations. It was Yanira that gave Teresa love and security that she was longing for even if it was not constant, because she was being taken away from her just like a child “in between”, and being raised by everyone but parents, just like an unwanted child. Guys, having children is a huge responsibility and the worst thing you can do to your child is to make them feel loveless, attention-less & security-less. The older I am, and the more people from different backgrounds I meet, I see that secure environment for children in which I was fortunate to grow up in, is unfortunately not a norm, and can’t be taken for granted, although it should be. It hurts me to listen to Teresa’s childhood story, and as a writer I’d love to overwrite it. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to change the past, but I was able to turn a page, get her to positive & promising life chapter and I’m hoping for a happy ending. Tere understood that her past doesn’t define her present or her future, she tried to understand why her parents acted the way they acted in their situation, she let go of the negative feelings and focuses on positive childhood memories. Like with Yanira. This is her mother’s day letter to her: “Mima, muchas felicidades en este día tan especial!! Tere #diademadres #diademadres2018 #hijasymadres #mothersanddaughters #mothersday #mother #sagualagrande #childhood #love #gratitude (at Sagua la Grande, Cuba)
