2014 SAIC Performance Department Lecture Series
"Propositions" is the annual fall semester lecture series from the Performance Department at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Fall 2014 marks the 10th edition of this series.
Propositions mission is to host a bi-weekly series of talks, lively debate, proposals, questions and ideas from a wide constituency of artists, curators, art historians, activists, organizations, and funders that have a commonality with the Performance Department. It is their mission to keep looking at current contemporary memes and conversations, ideas, processes, theories and the diverse contexts of Performance making and studies in 21st century Art School education.
These lectures consists of a number of individual series: 1) diverse, cross dialogue of different voices speaking throughout the semester and bringing international artists to the school and department; 2) a new annual talk series where they invite faculty from across the school to discuss how, why and what they teach here at SAIC; and 3) the One, Five, Ten alumni talks where they invite alumni back to the department to talk about their experiences post school.
Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests are welcome to come join, sit down, listen, share some snacks, drink and afternoon conversation.
