I wouldn't call it manipulation. I mean, yeah you're on the spot and it's really not a good place to be but no one is forcing you to say yes. It's not like saying 'if you don't marry me i'll kill my self.' THAT'S manipulation, not being on the spot. Is it still a good place to propose? Not really, but it's not manipulation.
