Say Lou Lou - Nothing but a Heartbeat

The title of their recently released album and the topic of their latest video stimulation, “Lucid Dreaming” is the motif behind Say Lou Lou’s latest music video “Nothing but a Heartbeat”. Spanning 8 minutes and 28 seconds, the video is more of a short-film than music video, as director Johanna Nordahl explains,

"Say Lou Lou wished for a video that would capture the essence of the album's theme Lucid Dreaming, and to me that sounded extremely interesting and challenging. I sought inspiration in documentaries on lucid dreamers, listened to Hans Zimmer for days, read excerpts from ‘On Being Ill’ by Virginia Woolf and kept a dream diary of my own while writing the narrative. I wanted the story to draw parallels to big religious ideas while exploring some personal thoughts on mental sanity. I’m a huge fan of Von Trier’s film ‘Melancholia’, so in retrospect I believe that probably served as an influence as well.”

Like the video suggests,“Nothing but a Heartbeat” is filled with an aura of mystique. Much like the phenomenon of lucid dreaming, there’s an ambiguous sense of consciousness as a Balearic haze from the video’s extended version eases through the calm of Swedish-Aussie twins Elektra and Miranda’s vocal duality. Pounding beats are met with vocal ethereality and twinkling piano adornments as the twin sisters struggle to find their reality.

Say Lou Lou x Lindstrøm - Games for Girls

Spunky and funky, the latest collaboration from the Jansson-Kilbey twins of Say Lou Lou features none other than that of Lindstrøm (and apparently some pen work by Noonie Bao). Their latest single, titled "Games for Girls" is a pumping and bumping track featuring the spacey, intergalactic sound of the Norwegian DJ's beats to that of the cheeky vocals of the Aussie/Swede twins. Featuring somewhat of a guerilla art campaign directed by Dimitri Basil of art collective "Welcome to Cult", the two sisters rustle a few feathers as they partake in the adventures of 3D-printing.
