S. A RANDOM FACT ABOUT MYSELF.
i am actually really looking forward to holy week services, like i am super cagey about going to church most of the year even though i love being inside churches and i love hymns and stuff
it’s just that like sometimes no matter how nice and non-judgemental your church seems you just happen to go on the week that some guest speaker dude goes off on a tirade about The Decay and Collapse of Traditional Values and how America Is Being Given Over to Temptation by the Devil
and you just sort of scoot around in your seat and fiddle with the cuffs of your shirt and pick at your cuticles until its over because you don’t want to walk out and turn into this shitbird’s next object lesson and you don’t really trust your face to like
not be doing something absolutely heinous
because no
stop
but yeah i live right next to a church that does the absolute most beautiful tenabrae service
i went last year and i sat at the back of the church just sort of trying to cry as quietly as i could (and i don’t really???? cry???? about external things????)
but it was a good kind of crying, the kind that makes you feel like you’ve burned off some of the toxic shit that builds up right at the base of your throat and sticks there
so yeah that was a lot of words about church from someone who has a rly weird relationship with churches/organized religion/god
