Around A Cabin (1894) Émile Reynaud
Autour d’une cabine ( Around A Cabin ) is one of the only two luminous pantomimes by Émile Reynaud that have survived; it consists of 636 hand-drawn designs created by Reynaud in 1893.
Autour d’une cabine was screened for the first time at the Musée Grévin in 1894. The projection was accompanied by original music specifically written by Gaston Paulin but, considering the poor quality of the recordings in circulation, thanks to Andrei Poliakov, we have produced a new soundtrack inspired by Paulin's original one. The little seaside adventure that Reynaud depicts for us is set on the beach of Sainte-Adresse, in Normandy, near Le Havre, a location very much in vogue at the time and also portrayed in several works by Claude Monet.

Seaside sunset at Le Havre
Enjoyed a nice weekend away with long-time-no-see friends in Normandy. The rain cleared throughout Saturday, giving us the opportunity to get out and watch the sunset from the "End of the World" beach, along the coast from Le Havre, out of view from the industrial port.
