Imagine acting like you hate Drake's music. Couldn't be me or Druski.
Usually, I hate "lazy sampling" because lately producers would use the whole song or the most obvious part and the artists tend to so some type of rendition of the song. But fortunately, Central Cee and Lil Durk did not do that with the Ne-Yo 'So Sick' sample... ok maybe Durk kinda did with his line about being sick and tired of love songs. But it wasn't blatant, and I appreciate that.
When it was announced a couple days ago that 2 Chainz, Larry June & The Alchemist were dropping an album together, I was indifferent about it. They've done a couple songs together over the years that are good. But I never came out of those songs thinking they should lock in on a whole project together. 2 Chainz has his moments where he wants to go all the way into his "Hip Hop" bag, and this seems to be one of those moments. The two singles so far are fire, so I'm expecting this collab to be a banger.
I'm tired of artists alluding to retiring or rebranding. Because most of the time, they're just burnt out and need a break. In the case with The Weeknd, he's doing the latter. And the way he's sounding on the album, he sounds exhausted mentally and emotionally and need a much needed break.
If this is the end of The Weeknd era, it was one of the all-time great runs. And I love how he's potentially ending it by having the last song on this album transition into the first song on his first mixtape. Putting it in a never-ending cycle. I think J Dilla did something similar with his final album Donuts.
