I think I’ve posted this Limi tune before, but I saw this post from TaiwanPlus news on twitter earlier today:
[TaiwanPlus: President 蔡英文 Tsai Ing-wen @iingwen meets with Taiwanese-American season 8 @MasterChefJrFOX winner Liya Chu, Taiwanese cartoonists A ee mi, and Saitemiss @saitemiss.] (Then TW President in in NYC for a couple of days)
You may recall that all of the early artwork for Limi releases was done by Saitemiss (tons of her beautiful work at that IG). I loved that union of art and music, it reminds me of when 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭 / 小油画 (-𝘑𝘩𝘢𝘰 𝘠𝘶 𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘩-) did art for 林瑪黛MATELIN:
TaiwanPlus: @saitemiss (right) asked President @iingwen for a selfie. A ee mi on the left:
A ee mi will also be tabling at MoCCA at the Taiwan comics table with Saitemiss, table 256, and she'll be speaking on a panel with Orion Martin (Paradise Systems), Akino Kondoh (Ax, New York de Kangaechu), and Emuh Ruh (Glacier Bay Books), moderated by Bill Kartalopoulos.
Panel date: April 1, 1-2pm Location: MoCCA Event Room 2
Full event description: Manga and More: Independent Comics in Asia
Manga has had a strong and steady presence in American bookstores for more than twenty years now. The market is defined by mainstream blockbusters, which usually run for dozens of volumes and have often been adapted for feature film or series animation. However, some North American publishers are looking beyond mainstream manga culture to spotlight work from the independent comics scenes of many different Asian cultural traditions. Bill Kartalopoulos will discuss alternative Asian comics with artists A ee mi (Platonic Love, EMOLAND) and Akino Kondoh (Ax, New York de Kangaechu), and publishers Orion Martin (Paradise Systems) and Emuh Ruh (Glacier Bay Books).
