It's written by my very good friend @mssakshinarula and this is her 4th poetry collection! I definitely recommend reading her back log, too! It is always a pleasure. '𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒃𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒆'. I think it was such a brilliant idea to release this book in black and white and also in colour. It was so lovely to see how vibrant Sakshi's formatting is. I also love that, as Sakshi mentions in her foreword, that this book represents the inner workings of her brain. 'Messy and Chaotic' (her words) but also beautiful. '𝑰 𝒑𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒔'. After certain pieces of poetry, Sakshi would have a song for the reader to listen to while reading if they so wished. I really enjoyed this aspect of the book and listened to every song. It really added to the experience for me. I feel like this collection is a breath of fresh air; so calming. With the music as well, it was a perfect relaxing read. '𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒔 𝒚𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆'. Sakshi has always been a poet that can create such amazing imagery with her writing and she doesn't disappoint in her fourth collection. I couldn't put this one down and finished it in a few days. This collection felt different from her other collections. I feel like there is more acceptance in this one of her own feelings but I feel like I can see more of Sakshi in this than the others. As always, it's full of long form poetry, real poetry. Some of my favourite pieces from this are: Summer Sun on Orange Peels, Santra wants to Leave the Earth, Say More, and 41: A Love Poem to Me. The interior is absolutely stunning and I cannot imagine the amount of work went into creating this beautiful collection. All the small details that must have taken so many painstaking minutes, hours, days, months! "𝒂 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒆𝒎 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒌𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔" This collection explores love in such an intense way that you can literally feel the emotions playing out. It speaks of heartbreak, lust, letting go, clinging on, the pain that comes with not being loved in return. I could go on. Some of the poems felt like a battle against each other. One would speak of letting go and wanting to be forgotten but then another you could feel the intense pain of being replaced, wondering if they still think of you. It felt like a battle between the brain and the heart and I absolutely loved it! I also loved how Sakshi incorporated her culture in this collection as it gave the book a richer meaning. B O O K R E V I E W : . Loveish by @mssakshinarula ❤ . Rating: 4/5 stars! . Firstly, I would like to thank @NetGalley and Sakshi Narula for a eARC for an honest review. . This was the second time that I had read Loveish as I had read it in September 2018 soon after it was released. It was one of the first poetry anthologies that I had read and I loved it so much. I love being able to see an indie author releasing such a high standard of work! . The whole anthology is centred around love. As a reader, we go on a journey with Sakshi as she travels through different relationships and a huge array of emotions that I believe are very relatable. I have always enjoyed the end of this anthology the most because the 'Loveish' chapter and poems are pieces that I relate to the most. My favourite piece has to be 'love, me'. I love the way it is written like a letter to an ex and describes what the 'ex' is missing. Definitely felt that before. I also really liked the small pieces of art that were on a few of the pages and really liked the art for the poem 'keys'. I also noticed some of the added poems that Sakshi had recently added to the anthology and thought they were a great addition to the anthology. . I did notice that throughout the anthology there is a problem with the use of tenses. Sometimes the wrong tense is used or the tense switches when there isn't supposed to be a switch. I also had a problem with no capital letters for the titles.
