S'more work on the Hanada family gold-star-attempt build using the "Ramen shop" property minus the ramen shop. This puppy has sat for a while cuz it's hitting eyebleed territory and well, today made that worse lol. The outside? Hmm... "I call this 'sailor uniform meets swimming pool.' It's all the rage now in home design. Trust me."

The bathrooms are mostly done, the play room has no furniture, the child's room is passable for a low-clutter environment and the nursery (not shown) has a few pieces of furniture. The master bedroom (green/black wallpaper) plus both guest rooms have the basics, though one of the latter is definitely further ahead on looking done. Texturing is ongoing for the hallways / stairwell areas, and the kitchen is, uhh:

An older project, gold-starring Sven Nilsson with the "100-yen shop" in House Flipper 2. I do believe this one qualifies as a shell challenge as declared in the WIP post, though I found out the hard way that a lot of the rooms didn't seem to seal properly and this is one of the properties where I started realizing that "yes, it does matter." Also, I forgot a fridge, which he didn't care about but I used sandbox mode to throw him a quasi-icebox situation into the back outside dining area which isn't shown in the pre-auction pictures.

Sven definitely liked all the shoji panels, and this is one of the builds where I was starting to feel more comfortable using them. Downstairs is the office, a half-bath, and the dark room he requested for his photography needs.

Looks like a little framing project going on there! Next up, we go literally up through the various levels of the original build's stairwell, to see the bathroom, bedroom, sauna, and roof-top dining area for when the cement back "yard" just doesn't cut it.

Quite the view! I could definitely nom some onigiri up here. Tea, anyone? Sven isn't much for visitors, but if you're a fan of Heart Flipper like he is, there might be tea and noms after all.

Splendid, we're inside now. The shoji looks better in here than it does on the outside of the building as seen in part one, and I got creative filling in gaps with 1-block square glass walls. Unfortunately, Kota hates open floor plans and I definitely didn't have all the rooms he wanted. This was my first real build for him, and I wasn't about to change it nor would it have made much sense to at this point.

Anyways, let's check out the downstairs bath area, where there is a mysterious hole that isn't even properly visible in the original Minshuku build but found good visual use here.

I was really uncertain as to what would count as "modern furnishings" since I knew Kota hated those, so the toilet part of the bathrooms was like... are toilets too modern? I eventually figured out with my third build for him that he wants the traditional floor-style Japanese toilets and other related stuff. Whatevs, let's check out the sitting area and then venture upstairs.

The drop-down stairs go to the roof. I burned out before I put anything up there, so as seen in the first post, it's just very uhh...literally minimalist zen. Yeah. Here on the second floor, let's check out the bedroom first, which hosts the custom shrine I had to figure out after forgetting to brick it it in properly during the structure phase.

The one thing Kota liked about the build is all the calligraphy stuff. Now on to the bathroom area for this floor, which ended up really pretty but I found out the hard way that the big wooden tub doesn't count as a place to get clean. Neither does the pool-tub on the first floor but I already figured as much.

Welp! That is a big blue house, well, technically indigo, a palette I was hating by the end of this build. I've vaguely made it a point to turn indigo into a challenge color to try and get more used to working in it... two more Kota-specific builds later, I've uh, definitely had practice. Those'll get posted in the future, I have adulting to do today. Bleh. XD

My first of three attempts to gold-star Kota Okada, and yeah... this one failed pretty spectacularly. I didn't have much to go on besides his basic bio, and the changes he wanted at auction time were way too many so I just sold him the build as-is. This was my second time working with the "Minshuku" property, this time demolished down to nothing for a fresh start. WIP posts for the process are here: structure stuffs and getting into the texture haul.

Sadly, a lot of the ground has crap under-foundation textures and even a broken block at ground level that shows the most recent tiling picked up by the player (which I hid under a pillow in the first floor bath area) sooo eh. The structure itself was a big experiment in learning to use shoji and trying to meld it with a boxy modern architecture shape. Could'a done better, could'a done worse.

First we have a better look at the garage, which holds laundry goodies and exits up into the garden shed. As for the garden, I did a lot of work on it since I'd seen something about gardens in comments from Kota on another build. Let's check it all out now, along with the view from the roof and a shot of the entire property from the air.

Yep. Lots of plantsu. And sand. We'll check out the house interior in part two, but let's... let's see how bad the auction went. I've done worse, but this one kinda hurt. It also doesn't help that nothing in the house counts as a place to wash... and I was too frustrated with the whole thing to think of adding a hand-shower at the last minute.

What dis mess? Why, dis a crap build for gold-starring Kyle Cheong. After he hated the one I poured my heart into (and hasn't been posted yet as it's in the backlog with a bunch of other large finished builds)... fine, brick and cement it is. This uses the "Old parking lot" property from the House Flipper 2 Sakura DLC, and was a gamble on whether or not Kyle was even interested in a Japanese location.

After adding a quick ceiling and some lights to the mess shown above, the auction test indicated that Kyle wanted even more rooms with computers and actually whined about not enough natural light regardless of wanting black curtains on all the windows. So the big empty square you can see in the overhead shots became three more computer rooms, and I added a bunch more windows and requisite curtains. Bingo, we landed a gold-star on Kyle and learned that he loves Japan, which he hadn't mentioned until then. And I passed 20 mil gold for the first time, thanks Kyle. :P

Some details on what I put in this build:

Okay, so... I decided to test a question that's been bugging me from the start of the House Flipper 2 Sakura DLC: do shoji walls and doors actually, properly seal rooms in House Flipper 2? I'd had to wall in a lot of Minshuku today as Kota kept saying rooms didn't exist (he never did register the huge-ass walk-in closet but I finally gold-starred him from other changes). Thus, here we have a very ugly experimental house using the "Great investment" property.

I placed the shoji walls and doors directly into full brick walls, and each shoji door panel opens over a matching-size shoji wall panel. I've been suspecting that the shoji panels at Minshuku were either put into panel-shaped holes, or had walls built around them. As such, I built in a fast floorplan using only the shoji pieces for doors and windows, not counting the garage door... I figured I'd green-check the Marstons if the build actually registered all the rooms correctly. I put in one kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and office.

It worked. So, the dev build(s) using shoji panels are a broken mess, but shoji stuff actually works when placed properly into walls. Glad to see I wasn't completely crazy! XD

Taking a break from the Hex Girls brain-melt project to melt my brain in whole other ways with the "100-yen shop" property in House Flipper 2. This is a shell challenge and shoji practice all rolled into one. I... think I did better this time with placing the screens and woodwork where it makes sense? Somewhere, an expert's accuracy sense is tinging... or blaring an alarm, as the case may be. Either way, textures are pretty much done and furnishing can happen next time I roll into the virtual neighborhood.

Oh, and I'm aiming for Sven as a buyer, in case it's not obvious. Sooo much green and yellowwood lol.

More work on turning the "Anime school" from House Flipper 2 into "I really really really really hope the Hex Girls will buy a place in Japan." This project is, uh, not exactly kind to the ol' autism... been swapping from room to room as each ambient color and pattern-blast gets overwhelming. Most of the rooms have a white-light setting as well, but I turned on the mood lighting for the screenshots.

I decided on the themes for each girls' room based off the very few images and smattering of buyer info in the game. Red girl gets fancy-medieval-goth, green girl gets cutsie-baby-punk that ended up going a wee bit institutional, and purple girl gets 80s-drag-queen which ended up smashing into Asian-fusion and the whole thing has lead me to headcanoning her into not-actually-a-her.

Meanwhile, the textures are piling up in the hallways outside each room... and I figured out a good way to keep track of hallway lighting for all four floors at the stairwell. The switch for the current floor is on the left without an indicator light, and the other floors have indicator lights that are on while they're active.
