hey

this is the final version of one of my projects for school! i’m pretty pleased with how it turned out (the music is thanks to sakuraburst). below the break, i’ll write a little bit about it

(be warned that this video jumps around a lot and could potentially trigger motion sickness!)

so far, no one i’ve shown it to has felt nauseous after watching it, but better safe than sorry

the main point of the project was to experiment with filters and abstract concepts. i decided that i wanted to, somehow, convey the futility of life. fearing that i was trying to make something both too abstract and too pretentious to be taken seriously, i decided to take a walk to clear my head, and film where i walked in the hopes that something interesting would happen.

the ending is completely by chance, and something that actually conveys the idea of “the futility of life” a lot better than anything i could’ve written...no matter what you do, your happiness and everything in it is ultimately up to chance. obviously, i think there’s a lot more to life than “oh well, my choices don’t really matter in the end,” but i also think that accepting the fact that parts of our lives would be vastly different if it weren’t for some chance occurrence.

anyway, i’m proud of the final product, and hope you like it!
