Salamanders in Mark II has healed me beyond all reasonable doubt.
Ah… weapon variety…
Got to thinking about Vulkan, (like any reasonable Salamanders fan would,) and the fact that his adoptive father N'Bel on Nocturne died of old age sort of ruins me a little everytime think about it, especially when you factor the Emperor's whole deal into the equation, and think about Vulkan too.
Imagine living your entire childhood as an outcast, you're bigger than most kids in your planet and you're constantly being raided by the Dark Eldar, and the father figure in your life teaches you everything you need to know about smithing, living on Nocturne, and the ideals of your society; and the moment you grow up and meet your supposed "real dad," he's the god of the fucking universe or some shit and you're prophecied to be a warlord for him.
If Vulkan landed on any other planet I think things might've gone very different, but holy shit does he owe a lot of it to N'Bel.
Looking at the first model I ever painted for my Salamanders, to my favourite current one; and I feel so proud of how far I’ve made it.
(I lowkey used to paint them like Dark Angels 😭)
