Okay, well what happened to Sydney was a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Basically thats when the heart suddenly, unexpectedly stops beating, usually people die from it within minutes if it isnt treated, and by die I mean perminantly die, but luckily for Sydney she was with someone who knew what they were doing and she was saved. SCA has multiple things that contribute to it, but we think it may have been Coronary Heart Disease. CHD is the most common heart disease and its caused by smoking, high levels of certain fats and cholesterol in the blood, high blood pressure, high levels of sugar in the blood due to insulin resistance or diabetes or blood vessel inflammation. We believe that she may have gotten it from smoking and high blood pressure.

Dear Riley,

Calm down. I can write letters without them being bad. This is the opposite of bad, actually. It involves a bit of a back story, though, so bear with me.

The day I got my first drum kit, there was a guy in the shop and he was really good. So while they were getting the boxes all together, I went over and I asked him how long he’d been playing. He told me it was for twelve years, and we were just kinda talking about drums and our idols and all that stuff, until the staff told me that everything was all packed up. By then, we’d gotten close and even opened up a bit to each other. He told me he was traveling all over the country, this was the thirty-ninth state he’d visited. Minnesota was, of course. And it was one dream to change somebody’s life in a good way, and another dream was to make it big being a drummer. Since the employees wanted to get on with their work day, I quickly asked him to sign my drums. He was a bit confused at first, he was telling me about how he isn’t even famous and I’d probably forget about him by suppertime, but I insisted. So he gave this weird little shrug that I still remember and we went over to my drums and he signed one, but I told him to sign all of them. He was still confused but I wanted everything signed for some reason. And that’s the drum set I’ve had my entire drumming career. I’ve always had his signature there whenever I played.

Turns out, this guy just got really big a few months ago. Like seriously big. And I got an idea, so I set my drums off to be authenticated with his signature. They told me over the phone, that if the one signature was real, I could get a couple hundred to sell. But with an entire set signed, it’d be in the thousands. And they got authenticated. My drum set was worth thousands of dollars for a few sharpie marks.

Yeah, I said was. I took a hammer to it. I’m totally kidding, and I swear I’m not thirteen. That was a funny joke and you know it. Maybe not, but I don’t care. I sold it. Yeah, I sold my first and only drum set, and the best part? I already spent all of the money. Every penny of it is gone. But you’re gonna cry at the end of all of this.

Wait until tomorrow, I’ll give you the tear-jerker. Just trust me on this.
