Bladderwrack

Salen, Highlands. “Taken on a family holiday in west Scotland. This particular day we had perfect autumnal conditions: glorious rainbows, perfect mirror-like reflections and fantastic autumn colours all around. I was super-happy with my images from the day. As I was walking back along a jetty from photographing some boat reflections, this bladderwrack hanging on to the side of the jetty caught my eye. It looked a bit like a tree, with its beautiful olive greens fading into golden yellows at the tips, and became one of my favourite images from the whole trip.”

Creo que todos hemos pasado por esos momentos oscuros, esos que no llenan de miedo y nublan nuestra razón porque no encontramos la salida, y parece una agonía sin fin.

Ten en cuenta siempre que después de la noche, sale el sol; que incluso, en la más negra es cuando salen las estrellas y quizás ellas nos puedan mostrar el camino que debemos seguir.

No piense en un futuro negro, vive el hoy. Quizás mañana de nuevo veas la luz o un espacio rutilante de estrellas sea el espacio que necesitas para ver todo más claramente.

Today, 7/27, the vtubers Luca and Selen tried out pony town and chaos ensued. Images are taken by the reporter + people from discord. reported 2 missing 2000 dead more at 5.

On Monday it was wet. Very very wet. And on days like that, where better to spend your time than in the places where wetness is the very reason for their bonkers beauty? Yep, time to visit the so-called 'Atlantic Rainforest'. 

I'm very fortunate to live and work among the regenerating pine woodlands of the Cairngorms but, quite frankly, for sheer sci-fi lichen-drenched other-worldliness, nothing comes close to these remnant oak/birch/hazel woodlands I can (and will) spend hours snapping pics in this lush environment. There's so much variety of colours, hues, shapes and species that there's no end of inspiration. Every bend in the path reveals a new unique sight. This particular woodland is on Loch Sunart, just outside Salen.

There are three features of 'temperate rainforest' like this:

High rainfall - measured in metres per year rather than inches!

The number of wet days per year - high rainfall in itself isn't enough, it needs to be consistently damp, with more rainy days than not.

No extremes of temperature - it needs to be a fairly stable climate, cool in summer, mild in winter, with humidity and drizzle etc.

In short, the west coast of Scotland
