I am currently in the process of printing ad displaying my pictures from the artist body project,
I want to display them all on either a white or black blank wall, i would like to have all the pictures the same size, and placed in a neat fashion along the wall, with the boards that people used placed at the bottom.
in venice i saw the art work where people had pictures of eyes and writing underneath of how that person felt or what had happened during their life, so i would like to do something similar. i was thinking about making a video like i have said earlier, i would like each person who was kind enough to let me photograph them, either do a short 10 second video of them explaining why the feel vulnerable or insecure or what it is that made them feel this way/ I would then like to have all the videos play at the same time, so not any one video is playing alone, to symbolise that everyone at some point in their life feels this way, and you are not alone in that. i would have all the videos alinde neatly and in a square block.
I was also thinking about using different objects that represent a certain insecurity and placing them around, in places such as back streets, homes, uni, and any place that is public, and photographing them. I have really enjoyed working with photography and would like to continue using this throughout the year. I would like to draw the images too, from both the people i photographed and if i place objects around, so i have a variation of different techniques and material used.
Venice 2013
Late november my art class took a four day trip to venice. I took many photos of both the city and the art work, unfortunately i lost my memory card along with my photos, so the photo’s i have posted are mainly just of the city, there are a few in the bunch that are of the art work but not many. I thoroughly enjoyed the four days we spent in venice, it was both educational and entertaining. we spent most of the days in galleries around the city, so didn’t have much time to stop and ‘sight see’ apart from on the last day. The main exhibition we went to see was ‘ the biennale ‘ this was a big lot of land with several separate buildings of different countries, and each had art work in, of course produced in said country. i don’t know many of the artists names from the galleries but a lot of the work did influence my decision in my most recent work. a lot of what we saw was photos and video’s and this is what grabbed my attention, it was different to most of the work. there was one piece of work in particular that i liked, which was in the very first gallery we went to, i sadly didn’t get to look at the artists name, but it was a short video of lots of made ‘burning bodies’ in a pile and had a woman voice over, which sounded like she was crying, and whimpering. In the room where this was playing, the pile of ‘bodies’ where in the centre of the room and all over the walls where photos of peoples eyes and a paragraph about something that had happened in their lives that hurts them, makes them feel vulnerable. from this i begin to get ideas for my own work, about ‘vulnerability’ and as i proceeded to look around the galleries seeing more and more videos and pictures similar to this work, of vulnerable and innocent people.
the last day of venice was spent on our own, able to look around, sight see and shop for little souvenirs, this was a fun day as we all got to go ahead away from the galleris and see venice. even though we wasn’t looking specifically at artwork and viewing peoples creations, it still felt as though i was, everything in the city looks as if its suppose to be this way, its beautiful and breathtaking. i would advise anyone who hasn’t been to go, i learned a lot about art and myself in this place and i would love to go again, to explore more of venice itself and to see more art work. Being in the biennale was incredible, it was amazing seeing all the different art work that has been produced and thought about from all over the world, everything was so different and i think it would be hard to visit this place and not be inspired.
