I also had a friend who was coincidently doing a human body cast, although hers is for different reason. i will not be using this cast, as i will be making one from myself, i am using these pictures as an example. this cast took me around 40 minutes to an hour to do, it was somewhat easier than the male part, maybe because there arent as many creases and difficult areas to get too.
Iv always been fascinated by the human form, face structure and the way each individual body is so unique. I have been wanting to work with sculpture for a while, but haven't found 'my calling' yet, so far i have tried using latex to create casts of faces, but after several failed attempts, i began to use modrock, where i have made a body cast of the female upper body and male lower body. i had a lovely volunteer who was not afraid nor ashamed to let me cast their lower half, i also intend on casting my self at some point. I'm not entirely sure where im heading with this part of my project, experimental work or research, i am just trying new things and seeing where i belong. I have found a couple of artists who work with cast making, a few i already knew. i have been doing some artists research in my sketch book, and making notes on certain aspects of work, where i feel inspired.
Mandala
I started this year doing a lot of work with mandala, at first i used this form of work because i found it some what relaxing, and the intricate details of the work made it feel like a sort of achievement. I feel that you can literally draw any type of mandala and you can somehow interpret into your work. i originally wanted to do a huge mandala piece, maybe cover a wall and have little images inside of the mandala, like hidden messages, or meanings. So before i began experimenting i did some research into the background of mandala, what its used for and where it originated. Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism. It represents the Universe. Typically, the basic layout of a mandala is a square with four gates containing a circle with a centre point. Each gate is in the general shape of a T.
One well known type of mandala is the 'five Buddhas' A common mandala of this type is that of the five wisdom Buddha'sWhen paired with another mandala depicting the Five Wisdom Kings, this forms the Mandala of the Two Realms. Mandala's are often used by tantric Buddhists as an aid to meditation, which is originally the reason i started to draw mandala's to begin with, a form of relaxation, meditation and to give myself inner peace.

photography in the arndale.
I have recently been going around manchester town centre taking taking pictures of strangers, of course asking for permission first. i didn't want to disturb the shoppers or make them feel uncomfortable, i simply asked if they would mind if i snapped a picture of their face, most of them said yeah, a few just walked by ignorantly.
after about 20 minutes of doing this task, i realised how judgmental people are and how quick we are to assume the worst of people based on their appearance.
if you saw a man or woman walking down the street covered in tattoos and piercings, wacky hair and a very dark sense of style, most people would avid them, they would judge that person before they even knew them. and whilst i was being a little creepy walking around asking strangers for pictures, shockingly, the majority of people who said yes, wehre the ones head too toe in tattoos ect. They where all the most polite and very inquisitive. now the men and women who dressed how society would say 'normal' where the most arrogant and rude people, they would shove past me, ignore me or look at me with such a rude glare. these are the judgemental people in the world, these are the kinds of people that think its okay to judge others on the way they look. when its them, they're the ones who should be being judged. after a while of taking pictures, the security guard came to give me a warning, saying i would be banned ect for 'disturbing the peace' and taking pictures inside the arndale was not permitted, did i listen to him? Of course i didn't. I continued going around asking for pictures, untill i was eventually escorted from the building.

JR artist (photography)
He has described himself as a "photograffeur"
He flyposts large black&white images in public area in a manor which is similar to the appropriation of the built environment by the graffiti artist.
the images he uses are of people, mainly peoples faces. As i enjoy working with photography and the human form particularly peoples faces. usually emotionless i figured i would have a look at some of his work and try to incorporate into my own work.
Fantastic Mr Fox
i want to do some work based around the book and film 'fantastic mr fox' it is one of my favorite animated films.
i like the idea of animals in human form or humans in animal form. i would like to have photos of people from daily life and have them as animals and/or animals as humans.
i could have a group of people in there natural habitat and have them as animals and/or have a photo of a group of animals in there natural habitat and have them as humans. ^ this all makes a lot more sense in my head.
this idea came to me from looking at Charlotte Caron.
