A musical tribute on teacher’s 80th

Ray Cramer’s 80th birthday brought music teachers from around the region together for a celebration -— and some singing.

Members of the North East Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association gathered at the Pennsylvania Room of the Holiday Inn in Bear Creek Twp. for dinner and cake and with a special gift for the longtime Dalton piano teacher.

Among those joining Ray and his wife, Lenore, were Laura Anderson, Andrea Bogusko, Roxanne Condel, Nancy Evans, Judith Fedor, Harvey Feldman, Rose Marie Gallia, Deborah Kelleher, Denise Knox, Christine Leandri, Michele Malinko, Michele Millington, Maureen Salley and Diane Shuleski.

The group enjoyed the grand buffet including dessert table and birthday cake. After they sang to Ray, the NEPMTA members presented him with a replica of a grand piano on a small stage, all completely made out of money. The gift was handcrafted by Linda Johnson, art teacher at Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes-Barre. Members told Ray about the impact he has made on their teaching careers as piano instructors.

Instrumental in the founding of the NEPMTA in the 1960s, Ray was elected to local and state level offices. He serves as an adjudicator for National Guild of Piano Teachers and judged numerous...
