Hello! I searched your blog to see if you’ve covered this before and didn’t find anything.

I stumbled across this video of Snow Mikudayo (seasonal variant of a derivative of Hatsune Miku) dancing and watching Daniel and the Dixie Diggers at Rusutsu Resort in Hokkaido Japan and thought it was an interesting mix of things you might like to see.

___ I remember this video! These guys actually got a much-needed restoration recently from Sallycorp themselves!

Daniel got an ear-lift, and Scratchmo was turned into a bulldog (as opposed to... whatever he originally was.)

Here are some recent photos of Daniel and the Dixie Diggers taken by @cavity-sam! I received permission from her to upload these photos to tumblr :)

These fellas were created by Sally Dark Rides (Sally Corp.), and they were Sally’s most popular animatronic musical performers!! They’re available as a set of five with Daniel T. Bones, Colonel Beauregard, Scratchmo, Sir Percival Perry and Huckleberry Hound, or as a trio with Daniel, Col. Beau and Scratchmo. This was originally the set of five, but one of the characters was evidently lost or discarded somewhere along the line. I believe that this set includes Daniel T. Bones, Scratchmo, and Colonel Buford T. Beauregard, Huck L. Berry based on pictures I’ve found, but I’m not 100% sure.

In their heyday, Daniel and the Dixie Diggers performed in places like Celebration Station and Mark Twain’s Riverboat Showhouse, entertaining kids of all ages!! Unfortunately, their time in the spotlight has mostly come to a close, and they’re scarce to be found these days.

Inktober day 6, Labyrinth of the Minotaur by SallyCorp. It’s got some of the neatest animatronic design I’ve ever seen in a dark ride! Big fan of this metallic lion situation.

do you know anything about the dutch wonderland dragon from the boat ride? when i was little it had a more “realistic” t-rex like face and it got replaced with something more cartoon-ish. I’ve always wondered what happened to the original dragon

This is actually related to our last ask: the old dragon (named Duke) actually appears to have been a modified Sallycorp t-rex!

Tragically, I can't find anything on what became of him after he was replaced. Here's hoping he was put into storage or repurposed somehow... :(

Welcome back! I have a question, I know this is a little bit of a long shot. But I have vivid memories of seeing an animatronic band of singing bears, they were realistic style anthropomorphic bears in farmer outfits. There were three of them. I have been vexed trying to remember what they were called, does that ring any bells for anyone? Singing farmer bears?

The closest I can think of is Billy Jo and the Bluegrass Bears by Sallycorp; they're farmer bears AND a trio, but they're not particularly realistic.

Sad news about Rocky and the Railroad Ramblers

I can't remember if we've featured these guys on our blog before, but I can't help but think we probably have. They're one of the most well-known cyberamic retrofits of all time, due in no small part to the man who's been the show's tech for the past decade, Andrew.

I'm not going to go into detail about the show or its past here, but I am going to announce to those of you who don't know that Gillian's Wonderland Pier is going to be closing after their 2024 season, i.e. this October. This means that Rocky and the Railroad Ramblers will be ramblin' on to new pastures, as their home since 1992 is shutting its doors for good.

It's a real shame that Gillian's Wonderland Pier is closing. It's been on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ since 1929, which is 95 years to you and me. It's a huge part of the community there, and residents are dismayed that the park is going the way of the dodo.

As for the Ramblers, well, Andrew is allegedly trying to secure a new home for them. At least, that's the rumor that's been going around. The owner of the park is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian, so needless to say, he's got HUGE ties with the community. I think that Andrew has a fair shot of being sold the show if he's able to find a place for them to go (either in storage or somewhere to display them).

It's a bummer that the show seems to not be at its best in its final hours at the park. Hank (the dalmatian) in particular appears to be in pretty rough shape. Hopefully Andrew will have time to give them a spit shine so their final performance at Gillian's Wonderland Pier can be one to remember!
