Goats and Baths
‘Wow. How on Earth is grass so green?’
L’vitsa is staring at her hands and admiring the play of sunlight over the contrasting colors of her hands and the grass. The grass is bright green with darker flecks on some of the stalks. Her hands are brown, a little lighter than the dirt her fingers grip, and have lighter flecks, though not many this far down her limbs. (They are thickest from the bridge of her nose down the back of her neck and over her shoulders, decreasing in density from there, and the darker flecks on the grass are thickest at the bases. L’vitsa is sure there’s meaning in this somewhere, but she can’t find it right now.)
Something moves behind her, distracting the art teacher from her upside-down musings on how all things are connected. Her tail, previously holding her skirt to the legs sticking straight up in the air, uncurls to wave behind her as her feet lightly touch down on the ground, leaving her upright and facing the direction of the watery noises. (It leaves a light ring of white fur against the green of the fabric, but she’s not worried by it.)
What she sees is partially worrying, but mostly just exciting.
There appears to be an alien in the lake. A rather large, somewhat humanoid, with skin a purple blue not unlike a fresh bruise, long horns, and white tattoos over their (his? why is she applying human pronouns to an alien? for shame.) body. The alien (or genetic experiment? who knows in these parts) also appears to be bathing. There’s a robe on a branch nearby. Said probably-a-person is in the lake. They look huge, wow.
She is probably staring for an almost rude amount of time at this point, but somehow doesn’t appear to be the least bit scared. Because she isn’t. New people are exciting, especially new people that look different and she wonders if this new person will let her draw them or talk to them or–. Ahem. Right. Bathing. The culture she was raised with says it’s not polite to watch people bathe, so she looks away. …On the other hand, she was also taught that science is impolite, and it is never a bad time for science. So there’s that, as well. This is probably why she hasn’t left yet, though she may start shifting away a bit, self concious.
