This August, BreadTalk Singapore (面包物语) celebrates 60 years of nationhood with a distinctly Singaporean flair of durian and salted egg yolk products. The SG60 products are XO Durian Bun (S$2.50), XO Durian Layer Brulee Tart ($3.50), Golden Lava Flosss (S$2.50), Golden Layer Brulee Tart ($3.30), Chocolate Layer Brulee Tart ($3.30) and Choco Banana Cake ($7.80).
First launched in 2018, Golden Lava Flosss (咸蛋金松) is back by popular demand for SG60. Got two of it for a promotional price of S$4.50. On the outside, are fluffy cereal pork floss and curry leaves with a molten and savoury salted egg lava in the centre of the soft bun. I thought the normal flosss tasted good already, but this one exceeded my expectation of the original pork floss bun.
I got the XO Durian Bun (XO 榴莲面包) for just S$0.60 as I took advantage of the bank promotion by paying with their credit card. The description said it is designed to look just like the King of Fruits, featuring adorable mini spikes and filled with rich, velvety XO durian custard. This is the impression from both me and mum after eating. While the bun is fluffy soft and tasted good, the durian custard is just passable for the both of us.
