Hey, can I ask a clarification question re: shipping and lgbtq advocacy/allyhood? Are people saying the former doesn't mean the latter because it's a fantasized view of queer experiences from a non-queer source? Or am I missing the problem? Also, does this make slash fic inherently problematic? If you don't feel like explaining, please just ignore me! Thanks!! ^_^

I would just take it as is. only shipping lgbtqqia relationships doesn't equate to true advocacy. just because we make some people tickled pink doesn't mean we should be objectified to only a cute-sie* thing (making "otherness" easier for conventional people to handle). I am assuming the post is in response of people who only say we are all nice and cute, but don't really aid in destroying negative internalizations of queerness (within themselves/and around them). lots of straight people tell me, "ooooo i have the perfect guy for you! yall would be cute together"...... okaaay i'm glad you know two fione ass queer folk, but it's more than that to me imo. i don't read slash fic personally, so i don't wanna critique it.

I couldn't send you an ask or anything, but I want to thank you for not being a dick just because we have different views. I know it's lame to feel the need to thank you for being a decent person, but I deal with a lot of assholes, & am happy when I find someone who is not.
