The flower I paired with Suki Lane is the typically summer flower, although, in suitable environments, they can bloom throughout the year.
In ancient Greece, Lilium was associated with purity; it was believed to descend directly from the milk of Hera. It's name, which derives from the Greek term "Leiron", is translated with the word purity, also referred to as chastity and candour. Lilium has always been associated with pure and regal values. The Egyptian people linked the figure of Lilium to the power and absolutism of the sovereignty of the Pharaoh; furthermore, these flowers were the symbol of the purity and virginity of the young people, who were destined to be married. For the Romans, Lilium was associated with fertility, the symbol of procreation, sublimated by love. During the wedding ceremony, for example, the priest who celebrated the wedding used to place a crown on the bride's head, made up of lilies and ears of wheat: the former indicated purity, while the latter was a good omen for a life of abundance.
