Horizon
Horizon I once witnessed a setting sun On the horizon of an unsettled sea On a boat preventing my only run A distance too far for you to see Waves ignored the iron anchor Rocking my resolve at best I felt the spirits leave my core Tearing my body without rest The sea sprayed vapors from underneath My movements at once constricted As I felt the cold beneath Warmth had been restricted Then as I looked up above There was no bright sun For a blanket of black dove Has covered all but none But I heard a quiet noise From a source not far but close Yet it was not of human voice It was of iron I suppose The wind blew from the north Carrying the message of the land It relayed to my sail to set forth Towards the grainy white sand The vessel cut through the waves Defiantly ignoring its’ might Refusing to be its’ slave Advancing towards a fight I fell on down on my knees My hands grasping the deck The ride has not been an ease Hoping to avoid a cluttered wreck In my heart I know of defeat For I once have felt it before As my heart wandered for sweet Something you did not ignore It was my own foolish pleasure That led to my default Fool’s gold was my treasure An idol which I exalt As my earthen colored eyes looked ahead My sweet fair stand erect on the shore The moment which I had never dread My sweet fair is finally mine to adore My ship landed on the foreign beach Inspiration swelled in soothing fashion Prepared for my tenderly speech Hoping to have at least some compassion In my childhood eagerness I fell down The soft white sand caressed my body As though it was your white gown Which once held your tender body To my surprise you weren’t there I looked around for signs of life Nothing appeared but void and bare Heart exhausted with present strife Rained emerged within my bound Bitter cold as last winter’s bite Covered the new earthen mound Something that tarnished my sight The erect figure was that of stone In it your name etched aloud So I let out a hopeless groan For our love is never allowed - d.
