Svetlana Yevgenyevna Savitskaya (Светла́на Евге́ньевна Сави́цкая) was the second woman in space and the first woman to perform a space walk. She completed two space missions, the first in 1982 as part of Soyuz T-7 and the second in 1984 at Salyuz 7. She was a dedicated member of the Communist Party, and she was elected to the State Duma.
